Are you telling your friends about Kyoryu, but calling it "that dinosaur game in a post-apocalyptic Japan"? or saying, "Not Dinoblade- the other one" 😆 Now you know. Arigato, Aiko, for the quick Japanese lesson. 🦖

LEVERAGING CREATOR AND SOCIAL COMMUNITIES FOR IP: a really boring thread🪡
Part of my job is to research as much as I can. To observe trends and leverage new ways of doing things. That's been the thesis with Claynos. A fresher, newer, and perhaps better way to develop character IP. We've talked a lot about short form content as our 'phase1,' but what about socials as a whole, and UGC?
Young (future) consumers are actively exploring online getaways and turning social platforms into sandboxes. How you choose to engage and participate with content is completely curated to you, by you, over time. We can connect with that generation—from discovery to purchase—by leveraging the dynamics of each platform and understanding how each speaks to its users. And by paying attention to key sticking points that emerge from those digital playgrounds.
For example, creator communities on Giphy & Reddit can be used to experiment with ways to boost reach and curate fans by tapping into sub-culture and niche. You can become an integral part of their evolving narrative because they customize their own fandom experiences. It’s a more nuanced approach---and it packs a punch! The journey (discovery, familiarity, connection) is important, and it's not the traditional IP development way, which was more about throwing darts at a wall in tandem with big marketing pushes.
By nurturing many different paths and touchpoints alongside an organic semi-linear, ever-evolving one (perhaps your main narrative), you actually increase your chance of success, or adoption. It's not just okay for elements of the IP to take on a life of its own; it's a fertilizer. You're allowing fans to create a bond based on a niche they connect with (memes, pop, sub-culture humor), and based on communities they form; and in turn they become active participants & consumers. Understanding what makes them tick, how they relate, how they experience the content bears more weight than view count early on.
Did you know many kids today haven't even seen a single episode of Spongebob (and many other mainstream IP), but by all accounts consider themselves fans? They know the internal pop culture, the rules; they know specificities you'd expect only diehards to know. GIFs and memes were their hook, and allowed for culture to take shape via expression of self and niche relatability. That is the power of creator communities and of curated algorithms. Audiences are exploring content & stories they've pre-selected via a trained algorithm (which can sometimes gatekeep, so a deep understanding of how people relate is necessary). Community-driven funnels lead to virality. Freshness. Being in-tune. In the current landscape, where box office is fading, where attention spans are dwindling, where Hollywood is pulling it's hair out; that is going to be a superpower. It's up to you to understand it, to use it, and to foster those incredible points of interactivity with your character brand.
That is what we're doing here.

We have issued a NATIONAL ADVISORY: TSUNAMI ACTIVITY following the Tongan eruption. We expect New Zealand coastal areas on the north and east coast of the North Island and the Chatham Islands to experience strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore.
@tastyworks has been awesome for a long time.
But they sure made up for being perfect for years with one big outlier fuckup this week. Guess even their service is all about that bell curve.
Anyone out there, better not try to resolve anything with their margins team.
They suck!
@TradeStation might be a nice platform to trade with but its fucking customer support is god damn horrendous.
No one to talk yo, no replies to messages... and a community aite that looks like its 20 years old...
Gotta do better!
Fucking hell @Telstra for months now there hasnt been a single day where your internet hasnt had substantial hour long outages... in the middle of bloody Sydney...
What the fuck are you guys doing all day?
@ctrader010@Telstra I actually am! Yet its still unbelievable how incapable they are and i am going to call them out for their ineptitude as long and hard as i can.
