Western Canadian Agronomists / Extension:
Do you want public / industry research into mixed grain intercropping trials like crop rotation, N dynamics, greenhouse gas effects?
CANADA needs this attitude. Imagine a country that looked ENTIRELY after itself, then exported foods/goods/resources to the world at FAIR market prices #EnergyEast#TransMountain#NorthernGateway#CoastalGasLink We have the people and resources, we just need a Federal Government
@KJRaisbeck When diversity is in the system plants can do great things. Had annuals and some sweet clover survive a few -16° days in Oct. Growth was slow but had an active live plant.
@patkunz@PremiumAg@chinookag@ellis_gord@CFSL_Agronomy Options would be a tillage radish if seeded mid to late June so it stays vegetative, a tankard type turnip, Sweet Clover (which you have done), and sunflower. Barley or Italian Rye Grass would be a good annual grass option.
Perennials are good if you can take out of production
