As part of the closing activities, the @ucu_ComputEng team visited the Mechatronics Department at Tumba College in Rwanda’s Northern Province.

Hidden in the cool hills of Rulindo District, Tumba College hosts a marvel of modern Mechatronics and Robotics training facility—an innovation hub shaping the future of Mechatronics training in the region. The @UCUniversity @ucu_ComputEng team was thrilled to connect with dedicated trainers and researchers in Mechatronics and Robotics.

We are excited to begin a lasting collaboration with Tumba College’s Mechatronics and Robotics Departments—working together to strengthen practical training and developing skilled human capital needed for Africa’s smart and industrialised future.

Yesterday at #DLI2025 @DeepIndaba, we had the pleasure of meeting researchers from the Carnegie Mellon University Africa @cmu_africa Robotics & AI Lab.

The meeting opened the door to collaboration, with an invitation to visit their Robotics & AI Lab.

The @ucu_ComputEng team was truly inspired by the groundbreaking work being done at CMU Africa. We’re excited to host the @cmu_africa team soon at the @UCUniversity Robotics Lab for a reciprocal visit!

Inspired by Yousra Farhani — a Quantum Computing researcher in France and founder of Quantum Africa Organisation — Nakya Zahara is now committed to launching a Quantum Computing Chapter at @UCUniversity to ignite the Quantum movement in East Africa. Zahara’s vision was sparked by @FarhaniYousra's presentation during #DLI2025 on “Exploring the Future of Quantum Computing.”

Inspiring the Next Generation at Namilyango College!

Today, we had the privilege of attending the Career Awareness Exhibition at Namilyango College,@Ngo_College1902 guided by the theme: "Informed Career Paths, a Key to a Fulfilling Future." It was an incredible opportunity to engage with passionate students eager to explore future career paths in robotics, cybersecurity, information technology, entrepreneurship, and more.

We shared insights into various programs under the Department of Computing and Technology and guided students in aligning their ambitions with the rapidly evolving tech industry.
