"We're lengthening the period of time between visits to the paddock to weigh the calves."
Capturing accurate calving data is no longer a time consuming process at Tremere. With two WoWs installed in the breeding herd Swin & Kathy are no longer going out everyday to catch calves.
🐮DATAMUSTER INSTALL📡
Our Research Officers Dr. Diogo and Dr. Thomas were timed on moving a DataMuster set up from one paddock to another⏱️
Pack Down = 40 mins
Set Up of Infrastructure = 40 mins
DataHub install and final touches = 40 mins
TOTAL = 2hrs -not including travel time
The DataMuster team was out and about this week visiting producer partners and looking at paddock suitability for new units!
In this paddock we looked at utilising the existing dam square as a cost effective option to collect data each time an animal comes in for water.
DataMuster technician Greg has been working hard to service DataHubs from Belmont Research Station before they are re-deployed for another big year of data collection. #agtech#CQUni
After experiencing the benefits of using DataMuster walk-over-weigh in their breeding herd over the past 3 years, Tremere Pastoral now plans to expand the use of walk-over-weigh to include growing cattle. #agtech#CQUni#producerpartner
"Game changer" @CQUniAg researcher Dr @anitazoechang says being able to remotely detect cattle rumination via ear tag technology will revolutionise beef production. Read more about Dr Chang's research here: https://t.co/0pF5MJOvaP @meatlivestock@CQUniversity @Tesltra
Busy day at Belmont yesterday mustering and weighing heifers for 400 day weights📈🐮
We're focusing on comparing these static weights to the data from our WoWs. This will help us refine our algorithms further and produce highly accurate data that is not subject to human error.
The successful integration of #datamuster WoW at Tremere hasn't come without a few challenges and changes along the way. Swin shares insights into some of the management changes he has made over the past three years that allow the system to run smoothly. #agtech#CQUniversity
"The WoW system is giving a more accurate birth date. It's improving each year."
Swin is seeing great results after using DataMuster WoW for the past 3 years.
