Ibrahim Mahama’s Damang Gold Mine Limited sells 100% of its first gold output to GoldBod, BoG in historic move
30th April, 2026
In a bid to support foreign reserves accumulation, Ibrahim Mahama’s Damang Gold Mine Ltd. has sold 100% of its first gold output to the Ghana Gold Board.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi esq., received a team from Damang Gold Mine led by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama at the GoldBod Assay Laboratory in Accra earlier today, where he briefed the media about the historic transaction.
He noted that having Ghanaians at the helm of the country’s minerals and mining sector is key to maximizing national benefits, local value retention and economic transformation.
The Chief Executive Officer bemoaned the low contribution of large-scale mining companies to foreign reserve accumulation efforts of government and urged other large-scale mining companies to emulate the good example set by the Damang Gold Mine. This he said is imperative for the actualization of the objects of the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Program (GANRAP) launched by government and approved by Parliament.
The first output of the Damang Gold Mine delivered to the GoldBod today is about 110KG. The gold will be assayed, valued and purchased by the GoldBod for and on behalf of the Bank of Ghana, refined and added to the Central Bank’s gold holdings.

YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND SEFWI TO APPRECIATE THIS FARMER’S TAKE ON COCOA CRISIS
I have said time without number that the average cocoa farmer is enlightened and well informed today.
Unlike the past, sheer sanctimony, brazen deception and insulting GH¢50 cutlass cannot buy, if not borrow, their conscience.
People were intentionally bused to go and demonstrate. That is how diabolic the NPP is. I lived through the announcements and it was everywhere. Do not underrate their shenanigans.
Here’s the verbatim translation of what she said in Sefwi in acknowledgement of the global cocoa fluctuations:
“I am a proud Sefwi. A cocoa farmer like me do not get money due to bad decisions taken by the former President (Akufo-Addo). It has resulted in untold hardships today.
Given the chance, Mahama will love to buy cocoa at a substantial price to enable me take good care of my children in school. But the decisions the past government took and the debt left by the former President at COCOBOD has made it impossible for them to get money to buy our beans.
So we plead with President Mahama to take firm decision (on cocoa crisis and fight the rot) as we pray for strength and good health for him to govern Ghana...
We’ve noticed his intention to increase the producer price when the market price takes a good turn. We pray the market price gets increased so the farmgate price will be increased for us to fend for our families because we are suffering.”
To cocoa farmer today do not thrive on pedestrian pettifogs, petty refractory comments and political pettycocks to understand their own sector and its nuances for your sheer, unassuming expediency.
Thanks for sharing fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides to woo them into protest. But NO thanks!
What you sold in government is being given free in opposition. Now that we know this, we will ensure you remain in opposition for a good time.
This, we understand, is the only way to see you being empathetic to the suffering Ghanaians. Atleast, it will get you actively involved in fixing the mess you largely created under your tenure.

@kobbyschram So, you believe when you gain a paper, you lost your conscience and when the paper is lost, your allegiance is restored?
Were Kotoka, Ankra and co, US citizens before fronting for the 66 coup?
Fair! But should Dr. Obeng — who has being committed to the wellbeing of Ghanaians & paying his due to nation building — return to vie for public office, do you believe he should be disqualified on grounds of dual citizenship? They may be red flags but the bigger picture matters.
