Brave Canine 'Tyson' Takes First Bullet in Kishtwar Gunfight, Helps Neutralise Top JeM Commander

Jammu, Feb 22 (GNS): Displaying exceptional courage, an Army sniffer canine named 'Tyson' took the first bullet during an anti-terrorist operation in Kishtwar, enabling security forces to locate the presence of terrorists and successfully neutralise two of them, including a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, officials said on Sunday.

They told GNS that the encounter broke out in the Chatroo area after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. "A joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and 2 Para Special Forces moved to comb the suspected hideout when terrorists opened fire."

"At the forefront of the operation was Tyson, a trained K9 (canine) of 2 Para SF, tasked with leading the troops to the suspected location," they said, adding as the team advanced, Tyson came under direct fire and was struck by a bullet in his leg, effectively taking the first hit of the encounter. "Despite being injured, the canine did not retreat and continued moving ahead, confirming the terrorists’ exact position and allowing troops to establish decisive contact."

The officials credited his bravery as a crucial factor in the swift neutralisation of the militants. "Tyson was later evacuated from the encounter site and airlifted for specialised medical treatment," they said, adding he is reported to be stable and recovering.

Notably, during the exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed. One of them has been identified as Saifulla, described as a top JeM commander who had previously managed to evade security forces on multiple occasions.

In a statement on X, the Army’s White Knight Corps said troops of CIF Delta, in coordination with J&K Police and the CRPF, dominated the encounter site with “tactical precision and resolute aggression.” Two AK-47 rifles and five magazines were recovered from the scene.

Search operations were continuing in the area at the time of filing this report. (GNS)

I am writing to you with profound respect and grave concern regarding the recent revocation of income-tax exemption for disabled personnel of the Armed Forces. These valiant individuals, who have sustained permanent disabilities in the line of duty, elect to continue their service until retirement, thereby exemplifying unparalleled dedication to the nation.

Our soldiers willingly embrace extraordinary risks to safeguard the peace and sovereignty of India. Many endure lifelong disabilities as a direct consequence of their selfless actions in defense of the homeland. Rather than seeking premature release, numerous such heroes and heroines opt to remain in uniform, leveraging their invaluable experience, leadership, and operational expertise to mentor and strengthen the Armed Forces. This choice is not born of convenience but of an unyielding commitment to duty.

The erstwhile income-tax exemption was far from an act of charity; it was a solemn acknowledgment of their profound sacrifices. The revocation of this benefit for those who persevere in service despite their injuries conveys an unintended yet deeply wounding message: that resilience and continued contribution are met with administrative penalty rather than commendation. In a poignant irony, a soldier medically invalided out is granted relief, while one who soldiers on through adversity is deprived of equivalent moral and financial recognition.

This policy adjustment not only undermines the equity of support extended to our defenders but also erodes the sacred national covenant that those wounded in the line of service shall never be made to feel burdened for prioritizing duty over discharge.

India has long held its Armed Forces in the highest esteem, with the ethos of “soldiers first” at the heart of our national pride. The restoration of income-tax exemption for disabled personnel who serve until retirement would unequivocally reaffirm this principle, elevate morale across all ranks, and fortify the unbreakable bond of trust between the nation and its guardians.

Sir, with this, home budget of senior and super senior disabled ex-servicemen will be reduced by 25% in one stroke. They are not at an employable age and have no way to offset this hit.

I humbly implore your gracious intervention to review this matter expeditiously and reinstate the exemption. Such a step would serve the cause of fairness, express our collective gratitude, and deliver justice to those who have already paid the ultimate price in blood and valor for our security.

Here’s a surprising answer from a 6-year-old child 💪✍

A friend of mine, a veterinarian, once shared a touching story.

I was called to examine a ten-year-old German Shepherd named Astro. The dog’s owners and their young son were very attached to him and were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Astro and found that he was dying of cancer. I told the family that nothing more could be done and offered to perform the euthanasia at their home.

They agreed—it was the most humane choice, as the dog would otherwise suffer greatly.

As we prepared, the parents told me their six-year-old son wanted to be present during the procedure.

The next day, I felt the familiar lump in my throat as the family gathered around Astro. The little boy was calm as he gently petted the dog one last time before Astro peacefully passed away. 🖤

Afterward, we all sat together in silence, reflecting on why dogs have much shorter lives than humans.

The boy, who had been quietly listening, suddenly spoke:

"I know why."

We all turned to him in surprise. What he said next stunned me—I've never heard a more comforting explanation. 🐕

Yesterday, I walked into a ZARA 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 , only to be shocked - rack after rack, Hundreds of clothes proudly labeled “𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙮” 𝙤𝙧 “𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙝.”

Yes, 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘆 - the same country that has sent naval warships to Karachi and supplied 𝟯𝟬𝟬–𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻, now being used against our soldiers in the name of proxy warfare. But it doesn’t stop there.
Even 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 stated that if India goes to war with Pakistan, they should consider “𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁.”

Yet, right here on Indian soil, their economy is thriving through global brands like 𝗭𝗔𝗥𝗔, which sell 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶-made products to Indian customers.

Sharing experience from Brother in Arms

Just want to share an experience I just had while moving with cvy to op area passing through Sonipat toll plaza.

Highyway Nest Mini dhaba came across whr we decided to hav dinner for self and tps. After having the meal for around 50 people, the owner Mr Arun Chauhan refused to take a single penny for the same as mark of respect for armed forces. He told us that he never charges any money frm men in army uniform no matter what. It left us shocked as the total bill estimated was around 8k. We tried to find any QR around the dhaba but couldnt find any..Unprecedented experience and we whr left speechless. Aeho je v log hunde han india ch.. pata nai si.

Such people should be told and promoted who are so selfless and humble towards serving armd forces.
