It's utterly callous and retrogressive to celebrate the death of Raila Odinga. Raila was human with both strengths and flaws, just like all of us. He was a politician who maintained the most ferocious and influential politics in the country and region for decades. He had followers, fanatics, and supporters; just like many politicians. He never claimed to be infallible in his decisions. He had gains and setbacks. He touched lives, both positively and negatively. Most of us will never attain the heights he soared. Let those who mourn do so without unleashing any mockery and vituperation on them. He was an icon and an enigma nonetheless. After securing life, we all end up surrendering it to death.
