The worse in Knoxville 2013, a low level for Vols, the biggest talent mismatch that I remember ever in my 40+ years of games at Neyland. After 5⅓ innings, manager A.J. Hinch came out to take him out, then pointed to the stands. Genevieve, his 7-year-old daughter, sprinted onto the field in his jersey, ran to the mound, and hugged him. He started shaking and crying. He had no idea it was coming.

Then he walked off holding her hand.❤️

His wife Kate and their little boy Bellamy (1) met them at the dugout.

A month and a half is a big effort and commitment, obviously know them well. As a person that probably has most everything you want, hard to buy a gift so the check while sincere had to be a surprise. Just from X history, I would have tried rare jazz recordings or related or used dinner to discreetly inquire. On a much smaller scale effort, I returned a gift card referencing friendship, which doesn’t need to be rewarded.
