Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman, completes Ironman 70.3 Massachusetts.
Shortly before the race, Nikic announced that he needed a guide to run alongside him for the race.
That's when Dr. Tommy Martin decided to step up.
"I learned more in this race than almost any other I have competed in, and none of it was about race tactics or how to PR. It was about life, perspective, determination, and grit. I owe all of that to Chris," Martin said.
"I hope every finish line Chris crosses serves as a reminder to the world: your diagnosis, your situation, your circumstances do not define your potential!"
Congrats, Chris!

Today, May 24, marks the exact day the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles in the Upper Room more than 2,000 years ago🇻🇦🕊️❤️🔥
According to this historical timeline, Jesus was crucified on April 3, 33 AD, and rose from the dead on April 5, 33 AD. Fifty days later, on this very day (May 24) in 33 AD, the promise of the Father was gloriously fulfilled.
The Holy Spirit came like a mighty rushing wind and appeared as tongues of fire, empowering the disciples and birthing the Church on the first Pentecost.
As the Acts of the Apostles records:
“Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit...” (Acts 2:2-4)
On that first Pentecost, fear turned into courage, confusion into clarity, and a small group of disciples became the unstoppable force that would spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
In this present time, we need the Holy Spirit more than ever. Let us pray with one voice:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
Lord, pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us today just as You did on that first Pentecost in 33 AD. Renew the Church. Renew our hearts. Set us on fire with Your love. ❤️🔥 🕊️
Friends, today I celebrate my 40th anniversary as a priest.
These past decades—almost two-thirds of my life—have been joyful indeed, and I have never once regretted my decision to become a priest. The priesthood has taken me all over the world and deep into the hearts of people I’ve been privileged to serve.
Thank you for your prayers and support over these many years. Please continue to pray for me and all priests, and know of my continued prayers for you.
Luke is inspiring as a Catholic, honestly. People may laugh at this, but he's serious. He cites Christ as a big part of his journey to this point.
Talked with him about Lent back during the Rodeo Road Trip. Super cool to get to know him, in that sense. #PorVida
Bishop Robert Barron delivered a keynote address at Rededicate 250 on Sunday May 17th, reminding us that human dignity begins with freedom — a freedom that comes from God, not government, and can never truly be taken away. “God could have made us robots or marionettes,” he says, but love only exists where there is free will. “If you’re forced to love, you’re not really loving.” We are made to choose God with our own hearts, because “love is what makes us fully alive” — we are children of God, created to love freely.

Maroons take a 3-2 lead in the top of the 7th. Lightning suspends the game with runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs, top 7. Cannot finish so final goes back to last completed inning. Indianola wins 2-1. Great outing by Enzo Martin and great defense. Maroons will be back at it tomorrow night against Lewis Central.
The WNBA has severe CCDS (Caitlin Clark Derangement Syndrome), and it was on full display this weekend. She had two incredible performances this weekend, but from Stephanie White to the entire league, they do backflips to minimize her.
