@Raspberry_Pi I claim a bar with 64 beer taps where customers could pour their own beer - smartcards activated taps, flowmeters recorded how much they'd poured. To be fair, that was 16 R-Pis: one for each group of 4 taps.
@BradfemlyWalsh No, I think you misunderstood. They're asking how the child's going to be able to engagement farm their choking mother (could go viral..) in order to get more eyeballs on their Gofundme when, alas, the ambulance arrives a day and a half too late.
@compound248@DutchInvestors Not massively surprising - they replaced something familiar to their staff on which they heavily relied with something new. There will always be resistance.
@DutchInvestors Google "toast increasing fees site:https://t.co/slJojskswe" - and, if you want a proper shitshow, look up how they added a 99c "online ordering" fee to every online order, hid it under "taxes and fees", and pocketed the lot.
@DutchInvestors Toast can contractually raise their processing fees at 30 days notice. We could terminate, but POS is sticky and finding and migrating to a new one in 30 days is hard.
@DutchInvestors Look at their R&D spend - it's off the charts - $350MM annually. They're not solving nuclear fusion: it's a tablet-based ordering system.
They've been buying back shares during Q1 and that's not stopped their share price sliding.
@DutchInvestors Lots. Looked at them for our restaurant. PoS (with integrated processing, as they offer) is a race to the bottom; they're having to increase their fees to start to pay back some of the capital they've spent. Makes them uncompetitive.
@JonathanPieNews To be fair, Malcolm would have said something more along the lines of "Fuck me, that fucking fucker's fucked and he's fucking fucked it for us fuckers too."
@philoinvestor They're currently in "market share at all costs" mode. None of them appear resource-constrained for inference at least, otherwise ChatGPT/Claude/etc. would be set up to be rather more concise in their responses.
