Once again I must say no health minister could have done a better job than Humza Yousaf. He's been navigating a perfect storm - recovery from the trauma of Covid is a big enough task. Add crazy levels of inflation into the mix. Then add brexit which has deeply harmed social care.

I want to address the idea we need a completely fresh start politically, rather than continuity. It is deeply flawed. There is precisely zero evidence the electorate wants the SNP to shift right. A centre left progressive position is what has won every election since 2015. 1/3.

But she jokingly put me in my place with a smile and a glint in her eye. I 💯 knew I was in the presence of an utter legend.

My one regret is I didn't take the chance to tell her that due to my aunt's spoonerism, she was known in my family growing up as "Booty Bethroyd"!

Only met #BettyBoothroyd once, but it was entirely in keeping with her personality and sense of humour.

I was sat outside the nurses office in parliament, in the only seat in the waiting area, as I was feeling a bit under the weather.

It was a hint I was only to happy to take.

I laughed and said, "It's not now!" and happily gave up the seat for her.

We made polite conversation for a minute or so before the nurse called her in - I obviously let her go first!

If I had seen her I would have given it up anyway
