We do not have inflation in the traditional way that drives inflation. This is supply shock / spike and I think this fed is misreading it because there’s so much political pressure to call it inflation and to push it being Trumps fault.

Facts:

1. We have closed refineries in United States, which had created a shortage of refinery capacity, which increased 321 crack spread. No rate hike will rebuild refinery capacity. That would’ve happened this year without the war..

2. The price of a barrel of oil is responsible for 60% of the increase in the price per gallon of gas. Crack spread is the other 40%.

3. Both of the above cause supply shock or spikes.

4. The jobs report did not show a ton of manufacturing jobs, it showed anticipated seasonal increases in education and hospitality. The numbers below the surface show layoffs at major tech companies, and industry sectors. Not massive but very real numbers.

So how the hell can you tell me (if those four facts are correct) we need a rate hike?

Sometimes the policy members live deep in a bubble, and they almost need to prove that they’re not beholden to the president as King (the enemies words NOT mine).

If Warsh is doing that, even a little bit of it, then he’s making two mistakes:
- mis weighing real facts
- proving his independence

Buckle up. If unchecked, this will cause a recession.
