MYP Compassionate Systems Youth Leaders working with PYP students as part of their culminating electives project. Students worked with Stock and Flow and Shifting the Burden tools to examine the social complexities in KG and G2.
G3-G5 launched Super Flex Term 2! Students brought an object to school that they are interested in/passionate about & made an annotated exhibition of it: the Museum of You. Classes visited each other’s museum rooms looking for connection, inspiration, & ideas for their inquiries.
Congratulations to Grade 5 for completing the Primary Years Program! Today, we celebrated their achievements at the Completion Ceremony in the gym, joined by their parents, teachers, and other TIS students. Wishing you all success in the upcoming school year!
Congratulations to students for a year full of learning and growth in and outside of the classroom. Thank you to the TIS community, parents, teachers, and staff for all your hard work this past year. To those leaving, hope to see you again soon! Have a wonderful summer break!
Grade 3 presented their creative process in designing their own fashion apparel. Students shared their inspirations and design methods to parents, teachers, and peers. Wonderful job, Grade 3!
Great conversations this week about how flex time @TISlearns will evolve next year to include more students, more teachers, more spaces and more possibilities, with some inspiration from @kjinquiry
TIS hosted the KPASS Elementary School Choir Festival. TIS, CAJ, St. Mary’s, Seisen, and ISSH choirs performed for a full house in the gym. Great job to the performers, and thank you to Naarah (guest conductor from ASIJ) and our lovely music teachers!
So wonderful to have the community back on campus for the @TISlearns Cherry Blossom Fair. A genuine team effort and even the rain couldn’t dampen everyone’s spirits! #sausagesizzle
So wonderful to have a visit yesterday from the incredible @AkihiroFukutani and Prof. Ikuho Kochi from Kanagawa University to discuss possibilities for Compassionate Systems research and capacity building in Japan. @TISlearns @systemawareness@ku_official
So nice to have students from @seisentweets join us at @TISlearns for an inquiry into compassionate systems through climate action. A great way to explore the dynamics of complex systems, and a provocative starting point for #PYPX.
Among other interesting points, takeaway #5 speaks the most to me. Forever thankful for the nurturing parents, teachers and peers that I have in my on-going musical learning. https://t.co/nIpA7dsxxz
Very much looking forward to the series 2 launch of Compassionate Systems Asia Pacific Community Calls this Wednesday. A platform to showcase the wonderful work taking place in the region - spotlighting Thailand this week. #CSAPCC @rjowe1 @systemawareness @DeputyDulwichSG
Friday, Feb 3rd is the day of Setsubun (The Bean-Throwing Ceremony).
We celebrated Setsubun during the Japanese Assembly in Period 1. Students and teachers came to the gym with Oni masks and participated in the Setsubun Assembly. We hope we all have a happy and healthy 2023!
This is one of many examples of what a Compassionate Systems Approach aspires to achieve - the exploration of complex and relevant issues, topics and themes, alongside the development of our capacity to 'be with' these challenges and not be overwhelmed by them. @systemawareness
Incorporate SEL activities into your climate change lessons to promote students' agency and equip them with coping strategies that go beyond the classroom. #ClimateChangeEducation

If you’re amazed (or scared) by this then wait until GPT-4. Hopefully the conversation regarding the purpose and practice of assessment in schools can finally move from a slow jog to a sprint. Kudos to those that have been thinking about it for years. https://t.co/REC89nJWai
As the most senior students at @TISlearns, the G9s have been asked to reflect on what it is that they want to bring into the world. Starting with a skill or disposition, today they explored what the limits to their growth might be.
