This positions the Joint Venture between AST SpaceMobile at the top of the list for the upcoming J-LEO award.

Some reasons:

An established Japanese company that recently deleveraged and built up its balance sheet, data sovereignty for the Japanese government (important and gaining more importance each day), the best technology from AST SpaceMobile, and then some all contribute to why all the boxes are checked off.

Japan has tragically experienced a lot of damage and death from natural disasters, so it would make a lot of sense for other Japanese MNOs to link up with the JV down the road (similar to what we see happening in both Europe and the US).

As Lemonade is able to onboard more customers in the traditionally lowest premium segments, those customers (generally younger, renters and pet) are able to be cross sold more premium policies as they age. The customer acquisition cost (CAC) of the second policy plus is zero, which is fantastic for the top line (and soon the bottom line).

The more customers, the more data generated which then allows the systems to be further trained and even more precise when pricing policies (aka risk).

Insurance is boring and has much less eye appeal compared to AI, Space, Drones, and much more. Jazzy and exhilarating or not, it is one of the largest global markets and only growing.

It is also one of the markets ideal for disruption via an AI native based company. Insurance is by its very nature a non-tangible statistical product. The more accurately one is able to price risk in bespoke manner, the better the outcome.

It will be exciting to observe the next few financial quarters as Lemonade continues to scale growth and hit milestones:

-The third or fourth quarter of 2026 should be the first positive adjusted EBITDA quarter.

-Next year (2027) should have the first GAAP profitable quarter.

-Next year (2027) may be the first full financial year of positive adjusted EBITDA.

It should also be stated that while these short term milestones will be exciting for the company, the real excitement comes three years, five years, ten years, and further out as the company continues to executive at scale.
