Since it is wrong to argue with a superior officer, I obliged, took my handcuffs and cuffed him to the back. Again, the DPO said i was wicked. “How can you cuff someone who is in pain to the back, remove the handcuffs,” he shouted at me. I did as instructed. One sergeant and I took him and we headed to the Hospital on foot (it wasn’t far from the station). Immediately we left, i told the sergeant i was convinced the suspect would try to escape, so we agreed and cuffed him back (though, to the front) knowing full well that the DPO wouldn’t see us again.

Also, I unzip his Jean trouser and told him to use the cuffed hands to hold the Jean while we trekked. In my head, let me see how you go run pass me like this.

As we approached the Hospital, I moved forward to open the Hospital door, that’s how the suspect took to his heels. He knew the sergeant wasn’t fit to run very well and since there was bush very close to the Hospital, he went straight into the bush.

Realizing that, I ran after him. I thought of calling for help and to be on the safer side, I pulled out my pistol, fired into sky and that called the attention of the vigilante men around and about 5 of them came to assist us. It took us like 20 minutes to get him out of the bush. If not for the Vigilante men, it would have been so crazy cause my sergeant fell and was already injured.

We didn’t bother to take him to the hospital, but went back straight to the station. We met the DPO coming towards the hospital, he said he heard gun shot and knew something was wrong. We explained what happened to him and he was sincere and humble enough to apologize for not listening to me when I said the suspect just wanted to escape.

The following morning, while we were preparing to charge him to court, the complainant came and said: “please, I don’t want any case, let him just return the things he took from my house and my money. I don’t want his family to say I’m the one that sent their child to jail”

A cultist was threatening this person and she reached out to @egi_nupe. Baba referred her to me since its a Police related case and I de Anti Cultism. When she came, I asked why she didn’t report to the first in the first place and she said to my face “I don’t trust Police”. I asked “do you trust the lawyer that referred you to me” and she said “of course I do trust him and that’s why I reached out to him first.”

Well, we picked the suspect after a lot of stress, and the parents said their son can never be a cultist. They came to the office, and cried all their eyes out. Eventually, the mum also discovered that he had stolen all her Gold at home, sold them cheaply and used the money to buy drugs and also threw a correct birthday party for himself.

During investigation, we actually discovered he’s mentally unstable. The parents brought medical report to that effect and in fact, he was undergoing treatment when he sneaked out and didn’t return home for two weeks.

After all the stress, I asked the same lady again: “do you trust the Police now?”
She said “honestly, you people tried but I can’t still trust Police o”

Something really terrible happened recently in my work place, and it has completely ruined a man's life.
We have a senior colleague at the hospital, a really solid guy. Married for four years, two beautiful kids.

A few days ago, his older kid needed a minor surgical procedure. Just a routine thing. I was in the lab working on the hematology analyzers, you know, standard maintenance, when they ran the pre-surgery blood typing for the boy.
The results came out: the kid was O positive. But our colleague is AB positive.
Genetically, an AB parent cannot have an O child. It is biologically impossible. At first, the guy thought the machines were acting up. He actually called me in to check the calibration. I ran the full diagnostics; the equipment was perfect. We drew the blood again and ran it manually. Same exact result.
You could see the life literally drain out of his face. He quietly went home, swabbed his younger child, and brought the samples in for a private DNA test. Zero match for both kids.
When he finally confronted his wife with the lab reports, the truth that came out was sickening.
You know her "distant cousin" from Ekpoma? The guy who frequently visits their house to bring fresh yams, plantains, and garri from the village? He wasn't a cousin. He was her ex-boyfriend from her university days.

She had been sleeping with him right under her husband's roof, using the "family member bringing foodstuffs" angle as a bulletproof cover story. Our colleague was literally welcoming this man into his living room, offering him drinks, and thanking him for the yams, completely unaware that he was hosting the biological father of his own children.

Since that day, he hasn't stepped foot in the hospital. He didn't call in sick, he didn't ask for leave, and his phones have been completely switched off for days now. He has been entirely unreachable. Everyone in the department is incredibly worried, but honestly, nobody even knows what to say or how to reach out to a man.
