What a lovely morning it was in Masimanagar, Mamallapuram when the tribal women and girls who had never had access to toilets in their community before came together to celebrate the opening of the women's WASH complex comprising of bathrooms, toilets, exclusive toilet for those with special needs, clothes washing area, napkin change room attached to incinerator and ample hand washing facilities that @SanFirstIndia built with support from @EnergyAspects foundation and @TheCycleINGO. @DavidAtTheCycle and Ms Valarmathi Yasvanthrao, Chairman, Mamallapuram Town Panchayat inaugurated the complex and felicitated the members of the women's WASH committee formed for the O & M of the facility.
This morning, Mr D Raman, CEO, Virudhunagar district, inaugurated the new boys toilet block at P.Pudhupatti village of Kariapatti block along with @DavidAtTheCycle, Co-founder. @SanFirstIndia had built the block with support from @TheCycleINGO .
Earlier, David also inaugurated the fully renovated anganwadi at Valayankulam.

This afternoon, Co-founder @DavidAtTheCycle visited the unit at Govt High School, Sithalapakkam where the unit now caters to all the washing requirements in the kitchen and dining areas
This morning we @SanFirstIndia visited the GHSS Mamallapuram and Padur PHC where @EnergyAspects foundation had helped build toilet blocks and birthing unit with the EAF team and @SanFirstUK co-founder @DavidSanFirst. The children received Happy Periods training and reusable pads

A truly inspiring moment for us at SFI this morning at Madhuranthakanallur where we had built India's first Ecosan toilet seventeen years ago. The toilet that was fully in use had been damaged during the demolition of a nearby block which we were happy to repair.

The last of the training sessions for ADW schools in Villupuram was completed at Valudareddy this morning where 130 boys and girls with 8 teachers underwent training in adolescence, puberty & menstruation. A proud moment for Nisha Kesavan to train her science teacher in the batch
SFI built the first ever Ecosan toilet block in a Govt High school, Mathuranthakanallur, in 2005 which was in full use until it got damaged during lockdown. Work in progress to bring it back to use. Images from 2005, 2012 and the work going on now....
