Short term we need bigger leagues and a ruling where domestically we need a certain amount of Scottish U21/23 players on the pitch at all times.

Long term the academy and grass roots system needs a total revamp.

@EwenDCameron It’s not just Cape Verde. IMO Scotland were the worst team to watch at the world cup. No excitement just plain boring and over cautious. Playing not to lose game.

Although you could say I’ve just described Steve Clarke personality.

Yes they hit everyone behind the ball when Germany had the ball but when the counter attacked they done it with Purpose and numbers.

Clarke’s attack was toothless not enough getting forward.

@marknelsoncomic Also those country’s have a 16 team format not small league format like in Scotland where managers are under far to much pressure to give young players a chance.

The SFA are blind to the fact our game is dying in its feet at grass roots and academy level.

Not enough investment and thought on pathways for youth into 1st teams means less quality to pick from.

@lynneictfan Sorry but the FIFA rankings do not excuse our performance. Scotland did not perform like a team rated at 33rd they probably imo as the worst team to watch in the tournament. Total anti football!!!!!!

Teams ranked way below us have totally out performed us in this tournament.

There’s no doubt he improved our qualifying record for tournaments but it was easier to qualify for them than previous ones due to expansion.
So the SFA are happy to qualify and be dreadful when we get there????
