I’m a counsellor with 15+ years’ experience (esp. with teenagers and families, and in education) based close to East Putney tube; I have availability for prospective clients across a range of days and times; 'just wondering'-type queries are fine!

I'll no longer be using this social media platform, as its owner and proprietor's stated values do not align with my own. I'm active across a number of other social media spaces, and intend to become more active on others.
If you’re interested to read something about the joy and challenge of moving from life stage to life stage (and yet not always feeling like a ‘grown up’), I’m enjoying and can recommend ‘When I Grow Up: Conservations with Adults in Search of Adulthood’ by @MoyaSarner.
This is a really great article, David!🤗Thank you for your contribution to the CYPF journal.

I'm available to work with new counselling clients in person (from premises in Putney, SW London) or on Zoom from September onwards - please do get in contact, if you'd like to book now for September.

New research: What are most salient aspects of first-session activities by a therapist who consistently had good clinical outcomes? (a) promoting clients' sense of agency and collaboration (b) supporting clients' exploration (c) creating emotional security https://t.co/GMGO8Z44N8
I've changed my twitter/X handle to something less 'geographic', because for family reasons I'll be moving to South London in August (all current clients & schools are aware!). I've also joined BlueSky: https://t.co/LxbnHTHNFX.
Kudos to @ConferBooks, a relatively new imprint, for publishing this amongst a number of other short, thoughtfully designed therapy books (Mary-Jayne Rust's 'Towards an Ecopsychotherapy' and 'What Is Normal?' ed. Roz Carroll and Jane Ryan are also well worth a look). (2 of 2)
Clara Mucci's 'Resilience and Survival', which I review in April's Therapy Today (published by @BACP), is humane, lucid and suggestive on 'trauma of human agency' as it's experienced both by individuals and across whole societies. (1 of 2)
Though I don't have availability for new clients at present, there's info about how to search for a counsellor at my website's 'counselling' page - plus other sources of support, some free and/or local, at the 'other help' page, which I hope to update soon (suggestions welcomed).
We've loved highlighting the impact of counselling and psychotherapy research as part of the #MentalHealthResearchMatters campaign over the past six weeks.

For family reasons, I've been experiencing various aspects of the NHS at close quarters this Christmas. Yes, the system is creaking (alarmingly) and also, yes, some amazing care is being delivered by dedicated, kind, highly skilled professionals working in tough circumstances.
So much distress around- where is the containment? Where are the people with a calming presence who can take in what’s really going on & give a meaningful, caring response? These people are the salt of the earth, 'leaders', quietly making a difference amidst all the noise.
Mindline Somerset is available 24/7 throughout Christmas and into the New Year. You don't have to be feeling desperate or suicidal to call; needing to talk to someone for your own wellbeing is enough - plus Mindline call-handlers may also be able to direct you to other services.
What I like about my role as reviews editor @BACP

Mindline Somerset continues 24/7, plus there's a text chat service, 8pm to 11pm every day (see Mind in Somerset's website), plus Mindline Trans+ (UK-wide) for trans, non-binary, gender questioning people & family/allies, 0300 330 5468 (Mon, Wed & Fri, 8pm-12mn).
My article on LGBTQ+ 'coming of age' movies is available at the @BACP website.
If you’re a BACP member, you can also listen to the podcast (@jeanine_connor and I talking about some of these films) - scroll to the end of the article to find this.
