@Classemir0 If we manage to add Tchouameni somehow, or Scott, or Camavinga then that starts to look pretty shrewd with the other additions but right now, it's a bit underwhelming and I'm struggling to see how we close the gap to Arsenal and City.
@Classemir0 If we genuinely think Santos is better than Baleba, at half the price, then that's cool and good business. I don't think we do though. If we prefer Tielemans to Wharton then again, fine but the reality is we've chosen cheap rather than best. It's a reasonable concern.
@Classemir0 That's not my perception but as a general rule, you do get what you pay for. Can't escape the fact that we seem to be rummaging in the bargain bin this summer and when your main criteria for a signing is cheap, you're likely to fall away from the big teams who are paying up.
@Classemir0 Not totally sure on fees and I'm not precious about specific players really but I think Baleba, Wharton and Tielemans at £35m should have been doable at less than 250m and I reckon we spend at least that this summer.
@Classemir0 No it's not but you can't keep buying players that might be good in 3 years. Amad is a good example. Relatively cheap, unknown. Now one of our better players but it's taken years and he needed loans to develop to what he is now. United should, mostly, be buying ready now players.
@Classemir0 If you don't have the money, then it can be a good way to find potential quality on a budget but you'd need a lot of patience because it won't win you trophies straight away.
@banx82@jasaw83@Classemir0 Mainoo doesn't carry the ball forward. Check out the stats for progressive carries. Cunha could playing at a #10 but not so much on the wing or up front. Do think we need someone in there who can run with the ball.
@Classemir0 Why does it not happen then? Why do the Brightons and Dortmunds exist? Rooney was one of the best players in the world at 18. Ronaldo came into an incredible team and didn't need to be perfect from the start. That's not our current reality.
@banx82 It's a weird one. It's not going away. Mitten keeps pushing it and he's not usually one to speculate on transfers. Really not sure but something is clearly going on.
From what I saw in the World Cup, this lad is miles off. Nowhere near a 100m player. Talent for sure but ridiculously raw. Crazy gamble at this level of fee.

@sidlowe For sure. At some point it would be good if it was us, of course. The ire this time was the manner of it. Every single person, seemingly other than Tuchel, could see exactly what was going to happen in that game and he did nothing to positively influence it. You know, his job.
@utdAdams The issue is that Bruno is really the only top level player in our squad. There's other decent players but nothing even close to Bruno's level. It would be a concern if he left without having replaced his quality.
@johncowell67 Players are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Buy the players you think are good enough to elevate us to PL or CL winners. Pay up for them. Don't buy shit. It's not hard.
