Top of the Jungfraujoch, Switzerland. A spectacular view of the Aletsch Glacier. (And yes, got here from the South Coast of England entirely by public transport).
This remains one of the best educational experiences I have ever had, and I would throughly recommend anyone who is even vaguely considering taking this path to come to the online session.
Thinking about a Master's in transport planning?
Come to our online info session to hear about Westminster's MSc (including lots of active travel, natch) plus bursary opportunities.

A year ago I graduated from my PhD.
It took me five years to complete & I wrote many parts of my thesis whilst in hospital.
Disabled academics like myself often work on crip time. This doesn't make our contributions any less. And academia is a better place for us being in it.
@LikeEngineer @SavageHoutkop@physrj I recently managed to get a personal OV Chipkaart to a UK address and with a UK bank account via the postal form and SEPA money transfer. That technically allows OV Fiets use, too however you also then need to set up an OV Fiets flex ticket on the card, which requires…
@LikeEngineer @SavageHoutkop@physrj …another SEPA mandate. I think that needs careful timing though as it can take 19 days to set up, but once set up it needs to be picked up from an NS car reader within 14 days.
@LikeEngineer I‘ve done both & still can‘t decide which is best! Last month just hired basic bikes (v cheap) &that made some things easier, but I also missed the Brompton when transferring off trains. Would like to try the OV Fiets system too, but not readily usable for non-NL/BE/DE residents.

Now listening to @DavidFevyer on another excellent study that I was happy to be involved in writing up for publication (read it free online at https://t.co/9kViamKbrl) - Dave's study looks at assumptions and implications encoded in media representations of traffic fatalities.

NEW, on low-traffic neighbourhoods: biggest-yet UK study (of 46 London LTNs) indicates they notably reduce motor vehicles within the zone without seemingly increasingly traffic on boundary roads. The latter has been a major objection by LTN critics.

Our analysis looked at how collisions involving different road users were reported, so that we could identify distinct discourses around drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Per previous research, we found that drivers were often less visible in reporting, 2/7
