@SamaHoole Added nitrates and nitrites in bacon prevent harmful bacteria like Clostridium botulinum. However, cooking bacon at high heat can turn those nitrites into harmful compounds called nitrosamines, which are linked to a higher cancer risk.

@HSBC_UK is allowing fraudulent debits on a vulnerable woman’s account, and saying the POA didn’t pass verification @HSBCUK @HSBC is facilitating THEFT
@HSBC_UK An apology is irrelevant. HSBC needs better systems 1) to stop rogue companies set up fraudulent debits and 2) for recognising Power of Attorney holders
Apparently 75% of those who got the Covid shot are dead and the other 25% regret they got it
Anyone out there who has had the Covid vaccine, is not dead, and does not regret it?
I'll start

.@JamesTalarico: For 50 years, the religious right convinced our fellow Christians that the most important issues were abortion and gay marriage—two issues that aren't mentioned in the Bible.
Jesus tells us exactly how we're going to be judged: by feeding the hungry, by healing the sick, and by welcoming the stranger.
Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat other people, and I’ll tell you what you believe. Jesus gave us two commandments: love God and love neighbor.
There was no exception to that second commandment regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, or religious affiliation.
It’s important that you understand what happened last night.
Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue.
In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired.
CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.”
In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump.
But censorship always backfires.
Here’s the full segment Trump didn’t want you to see.
If vaccines killed 1 percent of the people who took them (billions),
that would be tens of millions of deaths.
Can the antivaxers show me the mass graves, so I can pay my respects?
BREAKING: Governor Wes Moore has a brilliant viral moment while discussing Trump's racist decision to disinvite him from the governors meeting: "I will bow down to no one."
And it was the viral jab at the end that really sealed the deal...
"The president is set to welcome the National Governors Association, that's a bipartisan group, to the White House," NBCs' Norah O'Donnell said during a town hall with Moore. "And I know that you are vice chair of that group. And yet, President Trump has said that you are not invited because, in his words, you're 'not worthy.' Why do you think President Trump has singled you out?"
On Wednesday, Trump invited every governor with the exception of Moore and Jared Polis to a special dinner the day after the upcoming bipartisan governors' gathering. He absurdly stated that they were "not worthy" to receive invitations.
Moore is the only Black governor and Trump's decision to target him is no accident. This scandal comes in the wake of Trump's racist Obamas ape post — an ongoing strategy on his part to shore up support with bigots as his popularity crumbles with most other demographics.
"Well, I can't speak to the president's heart. I can speak to his actions," Moore told O'Donnell. "And I do want to be clear to the president respectfully, you do not determine my worthiness. God determines my worthiness. The people of Maryland determine my worthiness. They are who I answer to, not him."
"And I have been very clear with the people of my state that I will work with anyone, but I will bow down to no one," said Moore. "And I think the president has a problem with that. And so I will work with cabinet secretaries and agency heads. I will work with anybody if it means that they're going to advance the issues for the people of Maryland."
"And especially if it's going to help to address some of the issues that I think are being inspired by the policies of a Trump-Vance administration," Moore continued. "But if the point of the meeting — that he singled me out and told me I'm disinvited from — but if the point of the meeting is to turn it into namecalling or to follow what he did in this most recent tweet, which is full of lies and it's ignorant and it's unhinged, if the point of the meeting is that, then my answer to the president is very clear: Nah, I'm good.'"
"Meaning you won't go?" asked O'Donnell.
"Oh, I'm good," said Moore. "Oh, I will not go. Absolutely not."
Please ❤️ and share if you stand with Governor Moore!
I’d barely heard of Bad Bunny until my daughter mentioned his Super Bowl halftime performance. But after watching his documentary — and the backlash around him — I realized he’s doing far more than making hits. He’s forcing America to confront an uncomfortable truth: Puerto Ricans are treated like second‑class citizens in a country that insists they’re fully American.
When the DOJ (under President Nixon) sued him in 1973, saying he violated the Fair Housing Act by refusing to lease to black tenants— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he had his black employees removed from his casino floors while he was present in the 80s— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he took out a full page ad in the NYT/NYDN/NYP/NYND newspapers in 1989, to call for the death penalty against the 4 black & 1 latino kids known as the ‘Central Park Five’ (who were exonerated)— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he was quoted in John O’Donnell’s 1991 book saying “Black guys counting my money! I hate it… I think that the [black] guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control”— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he had to pay a $200K fine in 1992 for kicking black dealers off tables at the Trump Plaza & Hotel Casino to accommodate high rollers— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he confirmed, in 1997, “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true”— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he publicly pitched (2005) that his show ‘The Apprentice’ should do a season of blacks vs whites— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he started to slander and libel President Obama’s U.S. citizenship status in 2011, repeatedly, because his middle name is “Hussein”— you said “he’s not racist”…
When David Duke (infamous leader of the KKK) endorsed him for President in 2015, and he failed to decry the infamously vile white supremacist’s support— you said “he’s not racist”…
When he has repeatedly harassed, disparaged, and publicly admonished the likes of the Obama’s & their children, Kamala Harris, the late John Lewis, and many other black political leaders— you said “he’s not racist”…
————
He has 5+ decades of being racist PUBLICLY and you still refuse to acknowledge that Donald Trump is and always has been a racist.
Him posting an Ai generated video depicting Michelle & Barack Obama as apes (a repugnant racial trope, that is as old as this country itself, used to disparage black Americans) on HIS SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT, is yet another example of why he is the embodiment of “when someone shows you who they are, believe them”
This isn’t debatable. He is despicable. He has zero class as a human being. And you’re just as disgusting as him if you try to gaslight us into believing his abhorrent post was anything other than what he meant it to be: a racist depiction of a former POTUS/First Lady.
When the BBC finally aired SALEM'S LOT (1979) in the autumn of 1981, images and scenes from it burned their way into my brain. I slept facing away from my bedroom window for weeks!
I grew up Republican. Still am in many ways. But MAGA pushed the party so far right that I get called a liberal now.
Let me explain the difference:
Traditional Republicans believe in:
• Fiscal responsibility (balanced budgets, not exploding deficits for tax cuts)
• Limited government (actual small government, not big government that punishes your enemies)
• Strong institutions (courts, elections, constitutional norms matter)
• Personal responsibility (your actions have consequences)
• Free markets (not tariffs and trade wars)
• Strong alliances (NATO, international partnerships)
• Rule of law (no one is above it, including the president)
MAGA Republicans believe in:
• Whatever Trump says today (even if it contradicts yesterday)
• Loyalty tests (agree 100% or you're a traitor/RINO)
• Conspiracy theories over facts (stolen election, deep state, QAnon adjacent stuff)
• Grievance politics (owning the libs > actual policy)
• Personality cult (Trump loyalty above party, above country, above truth)
• Performative outrage (culture war theater instead of governance)
• Ends justify means (storm the Capitol, ignore election results, whatever it takes)
I didn't move left. The party moved off a cliff.
I still believe in conservative principles. But when you say "maybe we should respect election results" or "fiscal responsibility matters" or "rule of law applies to everyone," you get called a liberal.
That's not conservatism. That's a cult.
I genuinely cannot understand how generation above me ended up here. We grew up idolising David Bowie and through him discovered Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. We lived through punk and post punk smashing gender norms in public. We watched Prince blur masculinity and desire. We danced to Boy George. We worshipped Grace Jones. Then came the flamboyance of the eighties where androgyny excess and self invention were celebrated. Gender bending was not a threat. It was art. It was freedom. It was cool.
So how did the same generation become so hostile to people simply existing outside rigid boxes. How did we go from celebrating difference to fearing it. This backlash does not come from culture or history. It comes from forgetting who we were and what we stood for. None of this is new. Get over it.
