Pre-orders used to exist for a reason. Physical copies sold out. If you didn't reserve one, you might be waiting weeks.

Now it's all digital. They literally cannot run out of copies.

So what are you paying months in advance for? A skin? A few days of "early access"? Content that used to come with the base game before publishers figured out they could carve it out and sell it back to you?

I miss when you paid $50, got the full game, unlocked cosmetics by actually playing, and nobody treated basic features like premium DLC.
