What an amazing day at @Princeton. As a life long Jersey guy, it was an honor to be part of this event. Thank you to my incredible @PUStateAffairs team for making this happen. We are proud to be in and of New Jersey!
Today inside the Faculty Room at Nassau Hall, Lt. Governor @DaleCaldwell '82, @SpeakerCoughlin, members and staff of the New Jersey Assembly and Senate, dignitaries, and Princeton administrators gathered to commemorate the first-ever meeting of the New Jersey Legislature 250 years ago.
The New Jersey Legislature met at Princeton from August 1776 until November of the same year. The new state constitution, which was approved in June of 1776, set up a bicameral body – a Legislative Council (now the State Senate) and the General Assembly.
This event commemorates the first official meeting that was held on August 27, 1776.

Today, the NJ Legislature will return to Nassau Hall at Princeton University, once again gathering where it first met in 1776. This year, as we mark 250 years of our nation and Legislature, we’re reminded that democracy is not a chapter in a history book, it is a living promise.
Across New Jersey, there are beautiful and varied habitats that host a tremendous amount of biodiversity. “Ecosystems at Risk” looks at species across the state, discusses threats they face, research being done, and what can be done to protect them. On view through Mar. 15.
The Museum was so pleased to host Lt. Governor-Elect Dale Caldwell to meet guests (including Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora) and tour the Museum. We look forward to working with Governor-Elect Sherrill and her Administration.

Last week, the local delegation of legislators met with #PrincetonU leadership to learn more about University priorities, the historical capital plan and sustainability projects, and University programs that support access and opportunity. Thank you for joining us.
New in Planetarium this month: "5000 Eyes: Mapping the sky with DESI."
Astronomers are using DESI, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, to map out the universe and see how it's changed over time.

#MemorialDay commemorations evolved from the post-Civil War practice of decorating the graves of veterans with flowers. It was one of many efforts by veterans, which also included organizing large gatherings to recall their service and remember their lost comrades.
