This could not be more wrong and dangerous. President @WillyRice's word at the PC soundly rebukes this attitude. Conviction and mission ARE NOT at odds.
Objectors to the Truth and Unity Amendment claim it will result in churches with “children’s ministers” being reported to the CC.
To the contrary, the specificity of the amendment will more likely prevent such frivolous reports.
Try again.
2/ Some have suggested that I am soft on the issue of women serving in the office, role, or function of pastor.
I am not.
I do not endorse, support, or believe that a woman can ever, or should ever under any circumstances, serve in that position.
"The Ten Commandments are just as valid today as they were when God gave them. They reflect the moral character of God, and they also provide the foundation of right living with others." —Billy Graham
I am sure the clarity of the present is contributing to this feeling at some level.
BUT
This seemed like one of the best Resolutions Committees in recent memory.
Good job @hunterbaker et al.
Can I just say how great it is that we have now had two back-to-back presidents who are committed to actually reflecting the will of ordinary Southern Baptists, instead of opposing and denigrating them and shouting at them that they’re part of a Synagogue of Satan.
It really is a new day.
Bart Barber and The Baptist Review did everything they could to tank the Law Amendment on its second vote in Indianapolis in 2024. And yes, they “won.”
Willy Rice is going to champion it as our SBC President this year.
A much better playing field for its supporters.
The local church is not optional decoration for the Christian life. It is where believers are taught, corrected, shepherded, strengthened, and equipped for the ministry that God Himself has for them do.
San Francisco Giants player Landen Roupp just gained a fan for life…
He flipped the script on his "pride" hat, writing Genesis 9:12-16 next to the logo—The verses that say the rainbow is a symbol of God's covenant never to flood the earth again.
Faithful ministers will be spoken against, hated and reviled. It is no disgrace to a minister's character to be hated by the wicked and ungodly. It is no real honour to be thought well of by everyone.
-J C Ryle
Why was it important to write that verse tonight?
ROUPP: "The rainbow is a symbol of God's covenant to us, and us as believers stand firm in that... There's no hate at all."
What would say if somebody considered that derogatory toward them as a community?
ROUPP: "As a believer, I would push them to read the Bible. God has blessed me in so many ways and I don't think I'd be here right now if it wasn't for him."
