@mtaibbi the real "laws" that empower governments are actually in the respective european constitutions. Take Germany for example. Their "1A" has basically a loophole that says any law can be passed to limit this "right"
@LightTheWay16@realJeremyCarl I don't know. The cop made the decision to jump the victim instead of going after the perpetrator. That would be the most direct cause of his death.
@NapoleonBonabot Only problem is you get 4 years out of it at most. The power these NGOs have is through decades of networking. That is the power that needs to be replicated. Otherwise it's a stopgap at best.
@Liberty_Vegan@LPNH If I had a dollar for every time a libertarian speaks as if the entire world was a libertarian utopia already I'd be a billionaire.
Whether it's tariffs, immigration or subsidies it's a very good idea to look across the border and see what the rest of the world is like first.
@santi0193848291@IceIceBrand0n@michaelmalice #3 is literally only a thing because schools, teachers and left wing media are shoving transgender issues down people's throats. But everybody is simply supposed to agree and say thanks for giving pills to my kid.
@Rothmus Even if you believe in the welfare state it should be a nobrainer that the money should go to people in need. It shouldn't go to a bureaucracy.
@senatorshoshana They look into the future. But they think they'll always be in charge of the monsters they create and that monster is both a cute puppy and essential watchdog necessary to keep the rest of the people in line.
@JohnLeFevre I don't really understand the issue here. Even coca-cola is off their rocker if they think their customer base consists solely of SNAP recipients.
@RepNancyMace It actually does. Which kind of behaviour and replies is going to be graded higher by that teacher? binomial theorems or "math is racist" scribbled over the question?
@theintercept@jessica_m_wash Sadly the article devolves from the issue it wants to show as you read along. Ironically the core lesson that never seems to stick is that most laws can be used against YOU given enough political will.
@RBReich It's always "more taxes for them" instead of "less taxes for us". Until that happens I don't think anyone arguing for "tax the rich" is arguing in good faith. They just want more money. And when you're spending trillions, billions won't go a long way.
@lisa_liberal So you're saying mail in voting could be susceptible to fraud? Fraud being conducted by the federal executive? That's a huge problem. Ban mail-in voting ASAP.
@NoahCRothman What "respect"? They crap on America all the time. They consider 50% of america worse than the taliban. Only time they don't do it is when America aligns with their interests at no cost to themselves. If we can't agree on fundamental values what are we doing here?
