Opepen is evolving 🐸

These new updates will forever change how Opepen operates as a project

Here’s the details you need to know ⬇️

One week today, Opepen V2 goes live

Opepen V1 is best explained as a 16,000 collection consisting of 200 unique drops (artists submissions) whereby Jack Butcher acted as the curator

For a submission to be shown to the Opepen community, it effectively had to resonate with Jack Butcher

Thereafter, for this submission / drop to then become part of Opepen, the community had to vote (opt in) to participate in this drop

A simple two step process ✔️

This has brought us many amazing drops from artists such as Snowfro, Batz, Doy (etc), however, it limited the pace at which artists can participate in Opepen

Jack has shared the Visualize Value team has received hundreds of submissions from artists, eager to participate in Opepen

Opepen V2 will effectively open the floodgates

As opposed to Jack operating as the sole curator, Openen is transitioning to a much more permissionless operating model

Moving forward, with v2, any artist can submit a drop and the *community* will then evaluate if they would like to opt into this drop

A simple change, however, one that will have a seismic impact on the number of submissions the community will have the opportunity to opt into at any given time

To summarise these changes…

Opepen v1 ~ Jack Butcher was the single curator of submissions, with the Opepen community receiving 1-2 drops each month

Opepen v2 ~ The community will serve as the curators of which drops become part of Opepen, with an uncapped number of submissions live at any point in time

As an Opepen collector, I’m extremely excited to see this change occur in one weeks time
