@M_Hoodh The World Bank is NOT closing its office or changing its engagement in Maldives. We are just consolidating communications channels. We remain wholly committed to supporting Maldives in its development agenda.
I had an insightful meeting with @DavidSislen, Country Director for @WorldBankNepal.
@WFP and the @WorldBankGroup share a long history of collaboration, partnering with governments to strengthen social protection systems, nutrition, resilience and food security. Together, we can align strategies and resources to scale solutions that deliver lasting, sustainable impact.
In Nepal, resilient safety nets, effecive disaster risk management, locally led digital innovations, and employment-focused value chains are essential.
@WFP_Nepal looks forward to deepening collaboration with the World Bank to advance shared goals for communities across the country, especially for young people.
Nepal’s greatest barrier to economic growth isn’t a lack of resources, but the untapped potential of its people which is being held back by inadequate investment in education, healthcare, and skills, writes @DavidSislen of the World Bank.

🤝 Proud to see our sectoral collaboration with @WorldBankNepal deepening — from tourism to clean air and digital development. By leveraging our shared expertise and local knowledge, we’re creating meaningful impact for Nepal’s future. 🇨🇭🇳🇵 #DevelopmentPartnerships

Very productive dialogue with #SriLanka's State Minister of Finance @ShehanSema and @WorldBankNepal. Sri Lanka’s return to macro stability is a significant achievement. We discussed how to sustain this progress in the years to come.
Great meeting again with 🇱🇰 President @RW_UNP I congratulated him on the recent progress with external debt restructuring and restoration of economic stability. The return to sustained growth will require new investments and continued reforms. Assured him of @WorldBank’s support.
It is a pleasure to be in #SriLanka to introduce the @WorldBankNepal’s new Country Director for Maldives, Nepal & Sri Lanka, David Sislen to government and key partners. I am confident that our seven decades of partnership with Sri Lanka will be strengthened under his leadership.
BBB used to mean Build Back Better
I prefer the new BBB @DavidSislen proposed: Build Better BEFORE
Disaster & response is a trap too many communities are in; we must REDUCE their vulnerability BEFORE the storm
#IDAworks to #EndPoverty even in the face of #climatecrises
Good discussion with @BarshamanPun1 on Nepal’s green energy agenda. I reaffirmed the commitment of the @WorldBank to supporting the government's ambitions.
