Message from volunteer, Gill Henderson... This is crisis point and I simply cannot sustain this.
I am absolutely sick of having to hassle people for funds for dogs, day in and day out...
I am not a rescue. The dogs are not physically with me, however they have no one else to ensure their safety pending rescue spaces becoming available.
I know everyone is struggling. I am too.
But the fact is, that so many people want to see dogs saved /safe and yet seem to have no idea of what is involved in trying to achieve that outcome. Those of us in rescue are burnt out trying.
Kennel costs, legal costs, assessment costs all need funding.... Not to mention the permanently having to reply to messages, calls, emails etc... And fitting that in around work too. It is 24/7 and it's getting worse instead of better.
I now have 4 extremely urgent funding situations needing help and I am quite literally begging you all to pls share and even send over £1...bcos all of those £1 donations add up... And I'm sure you won't miss £1 but it can be the difference between keeping a dog safe and putting to sleep that dog.
I need to clear around £3000 for my Scottish kennel bill for two dogs ( 1 a victim of sexual abuse, removed by Police Scotland and currently under assessment) and the other sweet boy lost his owner to suicide, he is also under ongoing assessment.
Their bills are £15 per night per dog.
I'm now owe for May, June and July.. Soon August too!!! Plus a residual balance for a previous dog, also sexual abuse victim removed from home by Police Scotland in same case as the other sweet boy. He is now homed thanks to Stef Gallagher Robb and the amazing team at The Underheugh Ark Rescue but I have £276.68 still to clear his bill.
I have 2 dogs in England in long term emergency boarding awaiting rehabilitation placements with our lovely friend Charlene McQuoid-Guess The Hayloft Pet Services . They need £920.
I pay £10 per night per dog for them.
I'm owe for June ( just for 1 dog as the other is paid), July for both and soon August.
I need £1600 by the end of the month for type assessments ( well £1440 as of today) for 2 beautiful pound dogs, saved by their amazing pound pullers Kim Taylor and Kelly-Joy Sherwood and now deemed type by some ridiculous set of circumstances through Humberside Police !!!
And to top it all, I now need to raise £350 for our amazing Scottish Solicitor who is acting free of charge again, to help a family facing eviction with their XL Bully dog.
I have limited time to keep sharing their appeal posts as I'm also in the background trying to respond to the miriad of messages, all day and night for advice and help, trying to find rescue spaces for the Boerboel boy in Police Kennels and 2 local Gsds looking at PTS potentially very soon.
Plus still trying to support the families and owners of ongoing cases thru the court system and find a kennel for the poor dog abandoned in Edinburgh before the end of the month. 😔
The situation is beyond a joke.
I need help please to raise these funds and then once these dogs are safe, I'm done.
If you are a rescue, I need RBU for 2 German Shepherds at risk, ( 1 MAY have a possible option that I've been working on 🙏 ) RBU for Blue the little Frenchie who has been waiting for a space for over year now and has recently taken unwell with his current foster.
I'm currently looking into an offer of potential RBU for Boerboel boy thanks to our lovely friend Catherine Mcdonagh for linking up re that 🙏

'Ragnor is a young adult Central Asian Shepherd who came in Authority care for welfare reasons.
We need an experienced and suitable rescue space for this boy. He is a specific breed that needs experience and understanding.
He is a great lad and is happy to meet people and has dog tested very well. I have videos for interested rescues with him on off lead dog tests. He has a lot of positives BUT he is food possessive in his kennel and this needs to be further assessed.
He is a friendly, happy young chap but will will need considered management around this issue.
Are there any suitable rescues that may have a space for him. We have got a time limit to find the right space'

Currently no figures exist, the government say this is not an issue and that they therefore don't need new legislation re breeding or ownership.
Rescue shelters across the UK are beyond full.
Councils are still issuing new licences to breed.

Maureen is a Bull Lurcher approx 3 years old. She's a slightly worried soul who came into kennels with a nasty flea allergy which has responded well to veterinary treatment.
It has become clear to staff that although someone has put in the time and effort to teach Mo sit, paw and down (she doesn't always do it in the right order), sudden movements make her flinch and she becomes skittish - as if she's expecting to be hit.
Once she bonds with you she is very happy to see you (especially if you happen to have some chicken) and she will let you touch her all over.
She's shown no aggression towards large dogs, but she did respond in kind to a terrier that was barking and snapping at her, but she was not the instigator.
In UK dog pound but transport can be arranged.

You may remember Bruce came to us a few weeks ago with a large mass on his back after being abandoned in the north of England and ending up in a council pound.
He’s now had the mass removed and after testing it’s come back as a grade 2 Mast Cell tumour. We are treating him holistically and it’s healing well our vet feels that good margins were got all round and we’re hopeful that with ongoing holistic care, good diet and lots of support he will continue to thrive for several years to come!!

Four Lives We Can’t Turn Away From💔
We have been alerted to four beautiful boys who have all found themselves in the UK stray system through absolutely no fault of their own.
Two of them, Arlo and Murphy, have already completed their seven-day stray period without being claimed and are now safely in the care of 8 Below Husky Rescue.
We have also been asked to help two more red males whose time is running out fast. One reaches the end of his stray period on Friday, the other on Monday. Neither has up-to-date microchip details, and heartbreakingly, it appears that nobody is coming for them.
THE CLOCK IS TICKING 💔
Many people don’t realise how the stray system works in the UK. When a dog enters the system, they are held for seven days while every effort is made to reunite them with their owner. If nobody comes forward, their future becomes incredibly uncertain. Without a rescue space, these dogs can sadly face euthanasia—not because they have done anything wrong, but simply because they have nowhere left to go.
We work under enormous pressure to secure kennel spaces, arrange transport, organise veterinary care and get these dogs to safety before it’s too late. It is emotional, relentless and often heartbreaking—but we will never stop fighting for them.
None of this would be possible without the kindness and generosity of our supporters. You are the reason these dogs get a second chance.
Each rescue dog costs £8.50 per day just for boarding. On top of this, every dog requires vaccinations, parasite treatment, neutering and any additional veterinary care they may need before they can begin the next chapter of their lives.
We never like asking for help, but we really do need it.
If you are able to spare even a few pounds towards the care, you will be directly helping us give them the safety, love and fresh start they deserve.

All dogs must pass a temperament test before being released for rehoming via rescue. This means they will have shown no human or dog directed aggression or have given the kennel staff any cause for concern over their temperament.

The fact that most British council dog pounds give dogs no exposure and euthanise them after 7 days, when no shelters spaces are available, is a national disgrace and scandal #UK
Most council pounds do not show the dogs they have in their care on social media, often no one knows they exist or that they have been pts.

If a dog was stolen in London and then dumped in Scotland the owner only has 7 days to search every pound in the UK to find him, he can then be 'euthanised'.

Councils say they do not have the space or resources to feed and house dogs or to assess them for re homing. It's a national scandal we are not seeing in the news.

The public needs to know why buying a puppy or breeding from existing pets is a very bad idea. Unscrupulous breeding should be stopped now‼️‼️
