Many computer science students choose the major expecting to learn how to code and are shocked to find that that’s not what it is. For example, at my university, under 10% of course content is about teaching coding. So what’s actually involved in a CS major and why is it useful?
There are three fundamental constraints upon the structure of code. We learned all three between 1957 and 1968. Structured Programming, Object Oriented Programming, and Functional Programming.
Before jumping feet-first into a new idea, ask yourself:
🚦 Desirability: Do customers want it?
🚧 Feasibility: Can we build it?
💸 Viability: Does it make financial sense?
