“Same Game, Different Music”
Name of the panel we’ve had the honor to be part of with @gminorscale and @tomponist at @DevGAMM Vilnius at the end of last month.
All received the same gameplay footage of “Galactic Merchant”to work with.

@valtajan Maestro, apologies if this shows up where it isn’t supposed to be. Don’t really really know my way around twitter. Anyway just trying to reach out about a potential radio interview!
I concepted the music so that it sort of dissolves from the complicated flickering at the start into sustained peace as the main UI screen disappears and we see the solar system orbital simulation in space.

Economical cycles in the game evoked rhythmical motives in mostly pizzicati+col legni in my mind. Soon I developed a harmonic progression based on strings and woodwinds that evolved until the final long crescendo bowings of strings and blowings of winds. Zebra 2 did the rest.
We were tasked to score the given footage our own way so to say and then had a productive discussion about it with the colleagues and later also the audience.
Be sure to check out all the tweets in the thread to see my beloved colleagues’ versions.
Same game different music at @DevGAMM. 4 composers were given the task of writing music to the same gameplay clip.
Here I am looking at @tomponist and @DavidWurczel regretting my career path, because goddamn they are great at composing

Same game, different music! 🎮
@gminorscale, @DavidWurczel, and I were asked to compose some music for Sophism Games’ "Galactic Merchant." Here's my version and some thoughts on my approach! Check the other versions at the end of the thread!
