I've said it for a while - if Reggie Bush can get his Heisman Trophy back as rules have changed, IT IS INCUMBENT ON @NCAADIII to reinstate the @CruFootball 2016 #d3fb National Championship. The benefit had no nexus to the Championship, which is clear by the way the rules have changed over the past few years. @D3FBHuddle

The Cru, led by Texas Sports Hall of Fame head coach Pete Fredenburg won 3 national titles in 5 seasons by way of absolutely stifling defense.
The 2016 & 2017 defenses are thought of by many as the best defensive teams in D3 history! 💪
This is a topic that makes my blood boil. Patrick is fully in his rights for stating what he did about UMHB’s schedule, but it misses the reality.
First and foremost, this is the “reverse St. Thomas” play by teams that abandoned @ASC_sports. To this day, what the MIAC teams did to St. Thomas is horseshit (thank you Saint John’s for not agreeing to the expulsion). In fact, it was one of the largest baskets of horseshit I witnessed until the MASCAC played their games with Castleton and WestConn in that expulsion game.
In the case of the 4 remaining ASC football teams, why did the other teams leave? Because they couldn’t win or get at-large bids? Give me a friggin’ break. Two words for all of you schools that think THIS is the proper solution: “GET BETTER.” Go to your alumni, see if they want to get behind their athletics programs like UMHB and HSU have done, and either get that commitment or stay a middling team in a great conference. Thank God the OAC didn’t employ your pathetic approaches, or we wouldn’t have Mount Union in our realm. Same for the CCIW now that North Central has their success.
UMHB and the rest of the ASC suffer from a 1-2 punch, as the NPI dials chosen ABSOLUTELY SCREW the upper-end teams in the ASC. I’ll show the math on how teams can game the current system after next Saturday — it’s alarming how you can schedule now to make the playoffs at 8-2, and it’s a gaping hole that they won’t fix for at least another year. However, there is virtually NO incentive for teams to schedule UMHB and HSU under this system. NONE.
But long story short, the reason I get fired up about this topic is because the other schools that made these moves are screwing over student-athletes in the process. Schools like UMHB and HSU are good academic institutions that are providing those #d3fb-level student-athletes tremendous opportunities and leadership that they might not otherwise have access to. Yet, these schools feel no sympathy in making moves that they KNOW can upend those opportunities. There’s a special place in Hell for people that are behind these moves, and trust me, I know who you are and will willingly call you all out for your role in these moves.
Don’t hold this rant against @D3FBHuddle — this is my personal view, but enough is enough and it needs to be said. UMHB’s, HSU’s, and St. Thomas’s biggest blunders were winning and doubling down on competing at an exemplary level. If that scares you, get the Hell out of the athletics business.
“It’s something that will live with me forever. I think it solidified my legacy at UMHB.”
With HSU and UMHB battling tomorrow, we talked with @Anthony_Avila12, @CoachHammack7, and Jon Wallin to hear their memories of "The Kick" in 2019.

We have finalized the next step in our years-long effort to address consistent increases in hitting distance and golf’s sustainability.
These changes to the Overall Distance Standard will take effect in January 2028.
