The DNC's 2024 autopsy -- like much of the political analysis around it -- is focused on a political world that no longer exists.
Then Democrats were caught up in a wave of anti-incumbent sentiment.
Today, they are benefiting from it.
Democrats need to spend less time thinking about why they lost in 2024 and instead focus on how, if they win back power, they can avoid the inevitable anti-incumbent pendulum swing.
Someone tell Mike Johnson about the Christian virtue of humility, injunctions against pride, and emphasis on repentance. 'Cuz this railing against reckoning with America's sins seems crosswise with the whole idea of humans as sinners -- which is kinda big in Christianity.
Compare the term limits issue w/ gerrymandering. Pro-democracy is about letting voters pick their leaders. Yet term-limits take away voters' option to reelect leaders.
Gerontocracy / shortage of nextgen leaders are issues. But voters are right the ones to end terms in office
.@KatyTurNBC As a (retired) career-long policy change advocate, I think your idea to take on the gerrymandering issue is great.
Term limits, not so much. There is nothing inherently wrong or undemocratic about long-running service in public office. 1/2
