On the margins of the Regional Leadership Meeting in Sarajevo, @IOMBiH was pleased to welcome DDG @daniels_ugochi & CoS @AbdikerM for discussions with colleagues on key priorities, ongoing initiatives and the future direction of IOM’s work globally, across the region & in BiH 🇧🇦.
Great discussions in Sarajevo this week with colleagues from across Europe and Central Asia.
Glad to host this important exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina, helping strengthen coordination, partnerships and our collective response to evolving migration dynamics.
How can we better respond to the realities shaping migration across Europe & Central Asia?
IOM Chiefs of Mission & Heads of Office gathered in Sarajevo, 🇧🇦 to strengthen collective leadership, align priorities & deepen partnerships to better support migrants & communities alike.
In 2018, countries came together and agreed on a shared framework - Global Compact #ForMigration - to improve how migration is governed.
At the International Migration Review Forum #IMRF2026 next week, governments will review progress on these commitments & shape next steps.
Proud to support the meeting of the National Task Force on counter-trafficking & smuggling in BiH.
Bringing partners together to look at risks &responses comprehensively, especially as labour migration increases.
Coordination works: from joint action to real impact.
At today’s National Task Force meeting for countering trafficking & migrant smuggling, partners looked beyond mandates to connect labour migration, smuggling & trafficking.
As labour migration grows, so do risks. Coordination, info-sharing and early action are key.
@ItalyMFA
The EU & Western Balkans have agreed on new priorities for migration & asylum cooperation through 2030.
This aims to strengthen how countries work together to support safer migration, fairer asylum system & better crisis preparedness across the region.

Timely access to healthcare saves lives.
Kemal’s story shows what inclusive systems can achieve in practice.
When care, coordination, and solidarity come together, lives are not only saved, they are changed.
#HealthcareForAll
Kemal was passing through when a country he never planned to stay in saved his life.
While passing Bosnia, he was rushed into emergency heart surgery and the strangers who cared for him changed everything.
This is what we mean by #HealthcareForAll. https://t.co/1EO6xmLPk6
A special night to be in Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Congratulations and proud to stand with the country at a moment that brings communities together and shows the strength of unity, with talent shaped both at home and beyond. ⚽️
@IOMBiH celebrates the national team’s qualification for the @FIFAWorldCup, the second in its history.
A proud moment that reflects how talent developed across borders continue to contribute to the country’s success and the unifying power of sport in bringing people together.
The 2026 Citizens’ Assembly, part of the EU‑funded #MožemoBolje project, launched a citizen‑led dialogue on peace and trust, contributing to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s reform path.
On behalf of the @UN_BiH, @IOM_BiH takes part together with @eubih, @OSCEBiH and @CoE_Sarajevo.
Building on its continued engagement, the @eubih delegation visited the Temporary Reception Centre Lipa, engaging with teams and discussing daily work, experiences, and key challenges.
The visit reaffirmed its commitment to improving conditions for people staying at the centre.
Armelle built her journey across teams, countries and cultures, each move a choice for her career, each new jersey a step closer to feeling at home.
On and off the court, her story shows how inclusion grows through teamwork, trust & the chance to belong.

Last week with the @KosovoIOM team.
Great exchanges with colleagues and partners, including @UNMIKosovo, @Kosovo_Police & @ItalyinKosovo, and a field visit to TRC Vranidoll.
Pleased to also see encouraging progress on diaspora engagement & exchange with civil society @ngo_acdc.
Recovery takes more than rebuilding infrastructure. It requires healing wounds, rebuilding trust & ensuring no one faces loss alone.
Since the 2024 floods, @IOMBiH, alongside @UNDPBiH, has been standing with communities, providing tailored support in helping them move forward.
After the 2024 floods, the women of Buturović Polje in Bosnia rebuilt more than homes – they rebuilt strength in each other.
Through IOM-supported psychosocial support, they found connection, courage and the determination to move forward. https://t.co/XRrbvsJ9aJ
In the spirit of Ramadan, a traditional Iftar was shared at TRC Lipa, bringing people together to break the fast as the sun set.
Sharing this moment together was a heartfelt reminder that compassion, solidarity, and human connection grow strongest when people come together.
From Vietnam to Serbia, Tram brought more than coffee, she brought entrepreneurship.
Today she runs her own café, sharing Vietnamese coffee culture with her new community and contributing new skills and ideas.
