Finished my first master study today ๐
I chose a piece from @GurneyJourney's Dinotopia. I love his work and couldn't think of a better place to start my master study sketchbook.
I learnt a lot doing this one. I'll put what below (1/2)
In regards to the colour, I started to get the values closer each time I mixed the gouache, but I couldn't quite get it right. My colours are slightly brighter, whereas parts of the original have a somewhat more natural look?
(3/2) < I'm new to this ๐
The Invested vs. Spent Test
Time is either *invested* or *spent*.
Invested timeโactions that compound:
โข Reading
โข Physical activity
โข Mindfulness
โข Relationship building
Spent timeโactions that donโt.
When choosing what to do, prioritize investing time, not spending it.
45 minute pose from last week's life drawing session. The tutor advised me that I need to place thicker lines where the shadows fall, and thinner lines on the lighter edges. Makes sense! I'll have to try and apply this next time โ๏ธ

@craigmullins3 I draw people and have been drawn myself in public. I think it's absolutely fine as long as you're not intensely staring them down
๐๐๐
I will say however, I have found myself more uncomfortable drawing people recently. Not sure why...
The result of my first ever livestream on Twitch!
I kept it pretty quiet as I wanted to do a small test run. It was a cool experience. Felt pretty natural!
I'll be drawing every Monday from 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Might do some sporadic sessions during the week too!
1 hour 'long pose' from tonight's session at Candid Arts Trust life drawing. The tutor told me I needed to learn to use the last 10 minutes to "take lines away", so as not to give everything to the viewer on a plate. I have a lot to think about!
May is for studying gesture and anatomy. I've registered for a number of life drawing classes, and will be working through Proko's figure drawing course on YouTube. I'll also be reading 'Drawing the Head and Hands' by Andrew Loomis. I'm looking forward to it. 3/3
Rather than posting the same stuff from my Instagram, I figure it makes sense to use this platform as a place for me to track my progress over the next few years. I don't believe I acquired the fundamentals of art from my previous years at Uni, so I'm giving it a go myself. 1/3
Last month I spent my evenings and days off reading 'Creative Perspective for Artists and Illustrators' by Ernest W. Watson and watching Marshall Vandruff's 1994 course on perspective (which is great). I also focused on drawing as many cubes as I could. 2/3
Neptune & Triton by Gian Lorenzo Bernini at the V&A Museum in London. I love this baroque statue, and thoroughly enjoyed sketching it. I'm planning on doing a much more detailed version soon โ๏ธ
Hello Twitter! It's been about 8 years since I left you, and quite frankly, my old tweets are too cringeworthy to have on an art profile ๐ฌ so here goes attempt number two!
