Knows way too many random facts | PhD in biochemistry/structural biology from Uni of Dundee | Type 1 Diabetic for 32 years out of my 33... HCL insulin pump user
@EileenFindlay3 Most places instead now sell day tickets that are cheaper than two singles, so really you're getting better value for money as you can use the buses as much as you like for what would have been the cost of a return previously. Nowhere I've lived in the past 20 years sold returns.
@Type1Tony From the instructions, stop pump and detach tubing from set, undo the tubing adapter on pump and take the reservoir out, drop the new reservoir in and re-attach tubing adapter then prime to remove bubbles. Probably less than 5 minutes assuming you had a filled reservoir already.
@Type1Tony To add, either option will give a better HCL algorithm. The Medtronic one is great when it works and surprisingly intuitive at times, but can be inflexible. The CamAPS algorithm works similarly, but has more options to use if needed. Plus, a fully closed loop mode is coming soon.
@Type1Tony 2/2 The Ypsopump is smaller and can be fully remote controlled on a phone, which is like the previous Roche pumps I had. While it has a smaller 160 U reservoir, you can store filled reservoirs in the fridge and don't need to do a set change as a new reservoir can be dropped in.
@yunlong_cao Makes me wonder if a bivalent or even trivalent vaccine against the most recent variant and also ancestral ones (perhaps Alpha or Delta and BA.2 or BA.3) could be more appropriate for children, so to increase the breadth of their antibody response?
@DrAnnieHickox You'll probably find this on the BFI player interesting. Short documentary from 1978 about one of the first inpatient treatment units in the UK for those chronically affected by alcoholism, while also looking at helping with their associated social issues. https://t.co/nyHVeMpglx
@_arv_9@PastGlasgow Using a long focal length lens "compresses" the perspective: objects further away look like they're closer. In comparison if you took the exact same shot with a wide angle lens, it would exaggerate perspective. This is really an over-simplification, but a convenient explanation.
@DrAnnieHickox@RITB_ 2/2 With 2 services I used, many of the 12 sessions were me explaining the complex set of variables feeding into my several issues as person now diagnosed with autism. Going through them again twice was difficult. I now work with a long term therapist in the private sector.
@DrAnnieHickox@RITB_ 1/2 The 6-12 sessions is a real limitation with NHS/third sector therapy. Great if a person has an overarching issue that can perhaps be "solved" in that time with e.g CBT, but more difficult for those who have several issues or are neurodivergent, as the support suddenly ends.
@RDPHistory@CodeRecce If I recall from "The Red and Green Life Machine", (which I have a copy of, but not read for a while) also pointed out was that Argentina wasn't a signatory to certain parts of the Geneva Convention at the time? Aside from someone darkly suggesting it was a good aiming mark.
@T1_Lesley 2/2 The ~6 weeks to see GP/consultant/DSN (consultant yearly, DSN in-between) is also a bit optimistic. More like 16 as 1 consultant sees people with pumps. So had my checks in Oct, but no appointment until Feb. This is all part of the iDiabetes study. https://t.co/IPZ55MnbD6
@T1_Lesley 1/2 It's been a bit chaotic initially. I had to get my GP in the end to request my checks, which were months late, as I kept waiting for details and when I enquired with the diabetes clinic was sent the same letter I'd got 8 months before saying how the system was changing!
@DrCJ_Houldcroft@BristOliver I'll be honest that Oxford/Cambridge/St Andrews academic dress kind of make me think I'm in the TV series "The Prisoner"... Where do you think the somewhat eccentric dress style of the villagers in that series came from! π
@Type1Tony I've not used a Tandem pump, but never heard of a company issuing "refurbished" pumps. I've used 2 different companies over the last 18 years. I didn't select a T-Slim X2, going on the 780G 4 years ago and a Mylife Ypsopump soon, as the design choices didn't make sense to me.
@GhostOfSocrates@FeralHeather Wordstar was a bit early for me, I probably used a word processor (Word Perfect if I recall) for the first time in about 1995 when I was 3 "helping" my dad. I later taught myself how to use the MS Office applications by literally just exploring what every function/option did.
@FeralHeather I miss the excitement of the continuous progress and innovations for computers, video games and technology in general etc up until about 2010. After that, it just seems to have stagnated, with, to me, no real genuinely inspiring developments beyond what had already come.
@FeralHeather I started using computers in the 90s from a young age. My Dad was always bringing them from work, things were changing rapidly back then. I got the tail end of CL/DOS and the beginning of modern OS's, so people my age got the best of both and learnt Word etc as they developed.π
