Friends,
4 years ago, I ran a campaign for Kelowna City Council on a platform focused on a lower cost of living, smart infrastructure investment, a strong local economy, and more accountable local government. I got more than 10,000 votes but fell just short of a council seat.
Last minute announcement:
Hope to see you all at the “Ride for Pride” as part of Kelowna’s Pride week at 5 this evening. Begins at the Rotary ends at Railside. Free bike tune-ups included.
Will be attending along with the full Pride March on June 6th at 9:30. Happy Pride all!
@babsmc@ColinDMello His work on scrapping ranked ballots just as momentum was taking off was arguably even worse than removing wards in Toronto.

@EvanDunfee Thanks Evan. I think I’ve learned some valuable lessons from the first go-around.
Very proud to be working with some excellent volunteers, and I hope they help me get over the line on the 17th.
While Kelowna remains a good place to live, 56% of residents in the City’s own Citizen Survey believe that their quality of life has worsened in the last three years. That’s unacceptable.
I look forward to meeting you at the doorstep as I campaign for a seat on October 17th.
Very impressive transit signal priority work being done at a policy level by Dave Thompson in Victoria.
Hope to see the same here at the RDCO or City level.

part of the sign that albertan separatism has no juice is that they're immediately balking at the idea that separating means that they're no longer canadian
It really is infuriating that parties accept ranked ballots in leadership elections but oppose the very same thing in general elections.
STV is right there!
I was just down at the Kelowna farmer’s market, and besides picking up some local peppers, cherry tomatoes, and strawberries, I have to recommend this spicy plum sauce
Best I’ve ever had from Heat Freaks. Highly recommend if you’re local. They use their own hot pepper & plums.
Given the inability of many voters to recognize fake endorsement videos, speech, and pictures generated by AI, I think we should be pretty open to the idea of banning it in political discourse, at the very least.
People are already using it to manufacture disinformation.
IntegrityTO founder Daniel Tate told TorontoToday he believes his organization’s use of AI-generated videos is entirely fair game.
“It is simply a technology tool to get a message across — no different than, say, when we had political cartoonists who were drawing caricatures of political leaders in newspapers over the course of the entire 20th century,” he said.
Slatepitch: Canadian teams not winning in NHL in 33 years, surpassed by sunbelt cities called "boring" by a certain class but with a better tax environment and a need to win to attract fans given little natural captive market, is same cause as broader Canada econ scleroticism.
@Cadeyrnn As a friend put it…25% multiplier on costs with time discounting!
Imagine if the money had been put into literally anything useful. You could probably get more tourism from some kind of SEZ for hotel construction.
