This wasn’t what I expected. Instead of a novel I found myself reading a travelogue of Steinbeck’s tour of America. But his writing is tremendous, his observations penetrating and his descriptions vivid. None of Steinbeck’s books have disappointed me!
Sometimes God refuses to fulfil our hopes, and while this is painful at the time, it is ultimately for our good in God’s mysterious providence #Job#DailyReadings
Our suffering is not always a consequence of our sin. Sometimes it is. But sometimes it may be a sign of our righteousness and faithfulness to God. Either way, the question is: will we continue to trust and worship God even in great suffering? #Job#DailyReadings
@Logos@jonnypollock Some help on conducting word/phrase searches in Greek and Hebrew would be great. I want to make sure I’m using those features correctly and to their potential.

Too often we skim the long lists of alien names in Scripture. Each one is a life lived, a story written, a series of complicated relationships, a tangible expression of God’s grace. This much is true of those who returned to Jerusalem named in #Nehemiah#DailyReadings
Shoutout to @DemarsSean for the way he honored and helped an aging saint in this interview!
Also a great episode hearing from the man who authored one of the most—if not the most—popular systematic theologies.

The heart of the gospel according to #Nehemiah: God deals faithfully, we act wickedly—yet, there is forgiveness, grace, mercy and steadfast love. No better news to hear on a Wednesday #DailyReadings
Returning to Jerusalem, rebuilding the walls, renewing temple worship and following faithful & God-fearing men are the fruit of God’s promise-keeping. But this wasn’t the fulfillment of these promises—Jesus is at his incarnation & will be at his return #Nehemiah#DailyReadings
It is the entrance of the Word of God into a person’s heart that brings light and understanding. So our priority as witnesses should be to bring our friends and acquaintances into direct contact with Scripture ~ John Lennox
