Just listened to #radio4 InfiniteMonkeyCage and found repeated references to ‘boring old white men’ pretty offensive. Turned it off in the end. Come on panel, prejudice and mocking different groups is still prejudice and mocking.
@RareNeilPearson Now I don’t know this book, but that feeling of a long sought book finally coming home after residing on some other bugger’s bookshelf for too long - oh yes.
This week, Passover, Ramadan and Easter overlap, which only happens three times each century.
This rare and special occasion is a time for all communities to come together and make a common call for compassion, inclusion and peace.
In case you’re in any doubt @Jacob_Rees_Mogg and @DominicRaab, the disgraceful, haranguing of Verity Cowley by Lee Anderson on the radio is bullying. And if that’s what goes on in ministerial offices, it’s not being a tough or demanding boss, it’s being a bully.
Hats off @RobGMacfarlane and @SimonMcBurney. Their brilliant radio adaptation has now got me to the point that re-reading The Dark is Rising always does - desperate for it not to end. Trouble is, I can eke out the book with a few pages a day. Listening, I am just spellbound.
@smithsmm I often say I was a ‘lazy’ teacher when I’m visiting schools. Then talk about not doing things that the children should be doing for themselves. And paperwork that has no purpose in furthering learning. Teachers need their strength where it’s needed - in the classroom.
That Boris Johnson can even consider coming back while the privileges committee enquiry is ongoing, shows how ill-fitted he is for the job. He could be suspended from Parliament; we could be facing another leadership election before Christmas! #BBCLauraK
I hope each member of the Cabinet who is personally benefitting from the removal of the 45% tax rate will be publishing a plan detailing how they will use their windfall to grow the economy. But I won’t be holding my breath.
Very saddened by the decision to cancel planned NHS appointments for the day of the Queen’s funeral. Our dear, late Majesty lived by duty and service and a better way to have honoured her memory would have been to ‘carry on’ #nhs#queenElizabeth
@MrsVRE Go for it! It’s hands down one of the best things you can do for older children. By then, many will no longer be read to at home by family members. And you’ll get to say ‘sorry guys, we’ll have to wait till tomorrow’, when the bell rings and they beg you to continue.
Hi @JamesDalyMP, just listened to you on the news, and I know it’s not your area and so you can be forgiven, but please don’t say ‘sen kids’. People of any age may HAVE a special educational need, but that is not what they ARE.
Three things I’ve learnt from Boris Johnson today. 1 Lie and Deny. Again and again. 2. Say you accept responsibility for wrongdoing but do nothing to demonstrate that. 3. Avoid full disclosure of wrongdoing by (somehow) avoiding a full investigation #Partygate#metpolice
Just switched on @BBCBreakfast - it’s not just ‘a few minutes at a party’. It’s needing leaders, who don’t lie, who can be trusted, and who have some personal integrity. People I can believe could lead this country at this time and not be focusing on their on concerns.
