Never book with Sykes cottages at all, my mum booked a cottage but then passed away with covid in May and they refuse to refund the deposit paid, death certificate sent in and even the owner of cottage refused refund, she says not her fault that she died of covid
We've had enough. Our Refund Us. Reform Travel campaign launches today.

In March, April and the first half of May, Sykes Holiday Cottages received more than 5,000 five-star ratings on Trustpilot.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
But no one could stay in its cottages at the time – they were all closed. https://t.co/e2TJ4NeZxc
#sykescottages And there we go...despite the fact they still have my money, this is how Sykes Cottages treat their customers. Absolutely shameful and just makes me more determined to pursue this sham of a company
@GOVUK Why is the Govt allowing holiday letting agencies such as Sykes Cottages to blatantly ignore instructions regarding multihousehold bookings. Sykes is telling customers that it doesnt matter if people from 15 different households stay together for a week in a holiday let.
@SimonCalder still hundreds of people affected by @Sykescottages lots of people were forced to rebook and now not given the option of a refund. I don't believe the @CMAgovUK are aware of the many consumers still falling through the gaps. Please help highlight this issue.
@sykescottages Finally managed to get through.
Really strange policy you seem to have in that you encourage people to go AGAINST Government advice and travel in large parties as 'it is only advice and not the law so you're not forced to follow it' and therfore can't issue a refund...
@CMAgovUK can you please consider the undertakings from @sykescottages many were forced to amend their dates with an added price inflation as the option of refund was not available. Many people still need your help.
If you are going to book a holiday this year, here are 21 companies you can actually trust with your money.
All of the following are complying with the Package Holiday Regulations 👇 #RefundPassengers
#sykescottages Given your undertaking to the CMA to refund customers who's holidays could not go ahead. Please can you confirm when we can expect to receive our refund from our cancelled holiday in May, which you refused despite having a shielding letter
✅ Following CMA action, Sykes Cottages has now agreed to offer full refunds to customers on bookings that couldn’t go ahead due to the #coronavirus pandemic.
These commitments apply to 24 businesses and brands owned by Sykes.

@Luisa__Marina@sykescottages They have staff members on the group they are that pathetic 🙈 they have also said to a customer on the phone that most don't have bookings and are keyboard warriors you really couldn't make it up
@ginmart1986@MartinSLewis@sykescottages Do not use this company!!! They are terrible!!! Commitments broken! Holding money that they confirmed should be refunded..... USE ANOTHER COMPANY PLEASE PLEASE THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER BOOKED A HOLIDAY WITH
Booked a holiday up north with “Sykes Cottages” they have been nothing but ignorant, greedy and frankly full of s***. full fee to cancel no ability to alter or change dates do not care about frontline NHS workers... Do Not Book with Sykes Cottages. #donotbook#sykescottages
@sykescottages Absolute pile of 💩. You know full well you haven’t supported owners or guests and have been vacuuming up as much cash as possible - you proudly advertise that your IT systems are designed to do this!! You’re only agreeing to refunds now because of the CMA ruling. Disgraceful.
Sykes cottages are one of the worst holiday companies to do business with. They have upset their core customers by refusing to give full refunds for holidays cancelled due to the virus
Shameful behaviour.
Be advised that you book with them at your peril.
