Day of my PhD thesis work on MANF being published and in PNAS! @PNASNews
This is the culmination of my research on MANF. I'm very proud of this research and I am happy that it's now out online. 🧵

Shane Taylor (@DaysofOurPhDs) & MIRA member Bhagwati Gupta (@bguptabio, @McMasterScience) have uncovered a new cell-protecting function of MANF proteins, paving the way for treatments that support healthier aging.

In this work we show that More MANF the better! MANF is neuropective, extends lifespan, reduces stress. Interesting it lovalized to the lysosomes and its function is dependent on a regulator of autophagy and lysosome biogenesis HLH-30/ TFEB.
It took a while but our PNAS paper on #MANF neurotrophic factor is finally out! More MANF is better for neuronal health and lifespan. https://t.co/2L3KGRIjow #autophagy#lysosome@DaysofOurPhDs@McMasterU
Day 7 post PhD. I've had the fortune of working with @SunyBiotech to get a strain built. I'm excited to see the end result of it, generating future resources for the lab!
As a molecular biologist, my worst fear come true last night. 6 yo asked “how our body parts are made. Like, how do the arms and fingers know where to go?” She’s interested in developmental biology. Parents, talk to your kids about Wnt signaling before it’s too late.
Day June 22nd of My PhD I am traveling to #Worm23. Super excited to be going with @MacWormLab!
Come see my poster on Monday,
1177B. This is the first project i started in the lab and I am looking forward to showing my work!
