I DISCOVERED YEARS LATER THAT MY BEST FRIEND WAS ACTUALLY RELATED TO DONALD TRUMP, AFTER SHE SPENT YEARS DENYING IT. 😭
I still remember the first time someone suggested that my best friend might be Donald Trump's daughter.
We were sitting together when one of our mutual friends noticed her surname and made a joke about it.
Friend: "Wait a minute, are you related to Donald Trump?"
Her: "What? 😂 No! Why would you even ask that?"
Friend: "I'm serious. Your surname is making me curious. Are you sure there's no family connection?"
Her: "You people need to stop. Just because someone has the same surname doesn't mean they're related."
Everybody laughed, and we moved on.
But that wasn't the last time somebody brought it up.
A few weeks later, another friend made the same observation. This time, I decided to ask her privately because, honestly, I was beginning to get curious.
Me: "Can I ask you something without you getting offended?"
Her: "What have I done this time? 😂"
Me: "People keep saying you might be related to Donald Trump. Is there actually something you're not telling us?"
Her: "Oh my goodness! Not you too! I've told you people countless times that there's nothing like that."
Me: "But why does everyone keep making the same connection?"
Her: "Because people are obsessed with celebrities. They see a familiar surname and immediately start creating stories."
Me: "So you're telling me there's absolutely no connection?"
Her: "Absolutely none. Can we please talk about something else?"
I laughed and left it alone.
Over the years, the subject came up occasionally, especially whenever Donald Trump appeared in the news. Sometimes I would tease her about it just to see her reaction.
Me: "Madam, your father is trending again. Have you called him today?" 😂
Her: "You're actually becoming annoying. Donald Trump is not my father!"
Me: "Okay, okay. I was only asking."
Her: "One day, I'll block you for all these ridiculous jokes."
We would both laugh, and I honestly believed her.
What made everything even more interesting was how confidently she dismissed the rumours. She never appeared nervous or uncomfortable enough for me to think there was something serious behind her denials.
Eventually, life happened. We got older, became busy with different things, and the whole Donald Trump conversation became nothing more than an old inside joke between us.
Then, years later, I stumbled upon something that made me revisit that entire conversation..........

Plenty of people say they keep choosing the wrong person, and they don't mean it as a joke. The kind ones feel flat. No spark, nothing to figure out. The ones who run hot and cold feel like chemistry. If you grew up never knowing which version of a person you'd get, your body learned to treat the guessing as the feeling. Calm doesn't register because it never was normal. It usually takes months of someone being steady before your body stops calling it boredom and starts calling it rest. That part is slow, and it doesn't mean you're broken.
