I spoke to the students at a high school in Pennsylvania today.

The most common question:

“I don’t know what I want to do with my life. How do I figure that out?”

Here was my response:

You’re 18 years old. You aren’t supposed to know what you want to do with your life!

To be honest, you never figure it out. And that’s ok.

Please stop letting the world convince you that you need to have everything figured out. Ever.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Be excellent at what you’re doing right now. Create immense value for those around you.

2. Follow your energy. Outcomes always follow energy.

3. Spend time around people who support you and push you to think bigger.

You may never figure out what you want to do with your life, but if you do those 3 things consistently, you’ll always find a way to win.

(And please, for the love of god, don’t listen to anyone who tells you that your success is going to be determined by what college major you choose or what your first job is)
