@SaintHound @theodramatist Looking at the CCM list I don’t think so...maybe 2 - I’ll double check. We are technically 18, however I could make an argument for 13 then 5, happy to discuss particulars. Officially I don’t know why. Personally I have some ideas.
It's looking like we've turned the corner at my house, so I'm going to tell you a story about love and a pandemic. It starts two weeks ago Monday. I taught class that morning, but by lunch I knew something was up. By afternoon, I knew I was sick.
Please pray today for all those who are in need, especially those suffering from covid. Pray for healing, for relief from anxiety, for safe work for those who need it. Pray for doctors, nurses, hospital workers, and medical researchers.
Kindness matters.
But kindness does not = justice.
Civility counts.
But calling for civility is not the humane response to injustice.
Justice is.
Love is essential.
But love is not a passive, weeping bystander.
Love puts in work.
In case you missed it: The first law I signed from this special session makes #Juneteenth a permanent, paid state holiday in Virginia.
This day is about celebration, education, and reflection—and now it will be one that is recognized and commemorated by all of us.
Dear coaches of the sports: thanks for all you do. Please, please stop calling those running drills “suicides.” It silently pains at least one player on your team every time, guaranteed. Thank you.
@episcopride @YungAnglican @SecretCatholic Amén. I still reach out to my cohort. I love that they get me in a way no one else does - and we couldn’t be more different humans with massively different life experiences- but our time together with the Holy Spirit created something sacred and beyond language.
@episcopride @YungAnglican @SecretCatholic This is me. I don’t hang out with church folks in my friend circle. Church folks seem to have an expectation of who I should be and I feel like I have to be “on”. My friends just want me to be and they love my off days as much as my on.
@tracesoffaith@1DalM You remind me: Genesis 18:23-32. And, white supremacy is a sin of the American Christian churches. It is my hope we learn our true history, acknowledge our sin & truly repent. Only then can we seek forgiveness & reconciliation & pray, teach & preach with a new heart & witness.
You cannot love your neighbor while supporting or accepting systems that crush, exploit, and dehumanize them.
You cannot love your neighbor while accepting less for them and their family than you do for you and your own.
The 6 month mark in any sustained crisis is always difficult. We have all adjusted to this "new normal", but might now feel like we're running out of steam. Yet, at best, we are only 1/3 the way through this marathon. How can we keep going? THREAD /x
Hey #Reiders:
Tonight, @JoyAnnReid and @andrewzimmern host a special "Food and the Pandemic."
They'll explore the food related crises unfolding for Americans during the pandemic.
Tune in.

Kids don't need to be hungry. If they continue to face hunger at this scale during #COVID19, it's because Congress chose not to help them. Join us in urging Congress to increase SNAP benefits by 15% (or about $25 more a month) during this crisis: https://t.co/YciHC4Pd82
