A controversial Mamdani-backed socialist who just ousted a five-term Democrat incumbent is coming under fire for her years of anti-American rhetoric.

Darializa Avila Chevalier once called the United States "a f-----g disgrace,” but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Her now-deleted past comments and reposts continue to draw scrutiny, including one that said, “I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me.”

Chevalier has also called to abolish borders, prisons, and police, voiced her opposition to deportations, and has been a constant critic of high-profile Democrats including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders.

Despite these past stances, with Mamdani's backing and an increasingly left-leaning voter bloc in New York, Avila Chevalier secured the Democratic nomination as the state's growing progressive wing continues to gain influence.
