Over 50 policemen, 3 vans of @delhipolice present in @SouthAsianUni since the incident was reported on 13th Oct - delay of over 12 hrs. But, the police came to secure the crime site only on 14th Oct around 8-9 pm, 48 hours after the attempted gang rape.

The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of a shocking media report titled “Delhi horror: South Asian University student sexually assaulted by security guard and his 3 friends” wherein a female student of South Asian University (SAU), Delhi was allegedly sexually assaulted by a security guard, a staffer and two students inside the campus premises.

The Chairperson, Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, has written to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, urging for an immediate, impartial, and sensitive investigation, protection of the survivor, and stringent action against the accused.

The Commission has also sought an Action Taken Report within 3 days, reiterating that women’s safety within educational institutions is paramount and institutional accountability must be upheld at all levels. #suomotu @DelhiPolice
