@europa@Raymartin55 As an infantry veteran and former Catholic military chaplain I’m delighted and proud that the leaders of our universal church community have come out so clearly to call out the actions by the Trump administration in initiating and escalating this catastrophic conflict.
Below is Statement from four of us, former Australian officers, who served in the Middle East as unarmed UN Peacekeepers
We served in Israel, Syria, Lebanon and the Occupied Palestinian Territories including Gaza
We are speaking on our own behalf. No one else

@ArchbishopMark @ACBC1 Thankyou Mark . Many veterans despair that our Govt is abandoning people who supported their efforts on the basis that they were contractors not employees . They risked their lives to protect us . Messy though it is we need to show mercy.
@ArchbishopMark Thank you +Mark . Many happy memories for us . We could benefit from a few Camino routes in the AD , following the journeys early missionaries walked or rode , to inspire a new age of missionary activity !
@ArchbishopMark I’m sure Peter or Francis wouldn’t want to be seen crowned in any shape or form other than the simple robes of a servant to the needy . No wonder the church is hobbled by the blight of clericalism with all this grandiose symbolism distracting us from the humbling mission of Jesus
@ArchbishopMark Like St Martin, those who have had to fight for liberation and peace , have a particular passion for life, justice and an expectation of accountability for those in authority. One third of all Deacons worldwide have served in the military.
@ArchbishopMark Archbishop Mark is my pastor , and the very best we could have in steering the ship back onto the course of Jesus mission. He’s guiding us to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit that is leading us into greener pastures than the Roman Empire way of doing church. Respect him .
@ArchbishopMark Jesus would be delighted that the normative leadership arrangements for our church should change to generously serve and accomodate the needs of the poor and marginalised . The universal imposition of male celibate governance is manifestly unjust , and has been inadequate.
@DanielAngRC This is my experience working with veterans . They are interested to see what our faith leads us to be doing in making the world a better place . “Show us your actions , because the words of church leaders in the past have been empty and unfulfilled “
@BishopUmbers Many people , both participating in church and not participating for a host of understandable reasons ask me why can’t the church have more married priests . And yes they have told me if I was celebrating mass they would come!
@FJMallon I minister mainly with Roaming Catholics and the unbaptised. Church had been a great disappointment to them and trite words about Jesus loving them are empty cliches . They need and want to see Jesus in us bringing encouragement to the afflicted , and setting the downtrodden free
@ArchbishopMark We could use a good man with a shovel on our property. You would get both mud on your boots and as a bonus , the smell of sheep cows chickens and guinea fowls !!!
@ArchbishopMark Thank you Ron and thanks AB Mark for lifting up wearying souls and keeping hope alive . Surrender is not an option . Let’s Advance, move forward , trust in God , do better what we do well . Let’s arise from slumber , a new day is dawning. Let’s rebuild the City of God ! 😃🙏
