I am a sinner, a stupid man and I appreciate everyone who has ever pointed out my sin and brought me back to God.
It was never about judging me or hate, it was about saving me and that is Love.
@Joeinblack The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that God has bound salvation to baptism, but He is not bound by His sacraments.
Accordingly, God can save babies if they die without baptism.
If this response does not illuminate evil by the arrogance of man.
What are the goals to authentic pastoral practice?
Why would the rules be thrown out only if knowledge that death was imminent?
As Catholics should we not look upon each day as being imminent of death?
@Deadelephants2@Joeinblack To the specific case Fr. Krupp mentioned, I have no idea of the specifics. The CIC is also clear that everything goes out the window in danger of death. Itโs horribly tragic that a baby died without baptism. On that we agree.
Jesus did not just die. He was brutally tortured: In 1986, the American Medical Association published an article titled "The Physical Death of Jesus Christ". It details the entire process of Jesus' trial to His death on the cross.
In Luke 22, before Jesus is arrested, it is written that He was in great distress & sweating blood. Although rare, it is recognized as Hematidrosis, a condition caused by high levels of stress.
At the time, the crucifixion was considered the worst death for the worst of criminals. But this is not all Jesus faced. He endured whipping so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. He was beaten so horribly that His face was torn & His beard ripped.
A crown of thorns, 2-3 inches long cut deeply into His scalp. The leather whip used to flog Him had tiny iron balls & sharp bones. The balls caused internal injuries while the sharp bones ripped open His flesh. His skeletal muscles, veins, & bowels are exposed, causing major blood loss. Most men do not survive this kind of torture. After Jesus was severely flogged, He was forced to carry His cross while people mocked & spat on Him.
Crucifixion was a process meant to instill excruciating pain, creating a slow & agonizing death. Nails as long as 8 inches were driven into Jesus' wrists & feet. The Roman soldiers knew the tendons in the wrists would tear & break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support Himself to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the courage...Jesus endured this reality for 3 hours!
The Gospel of John writes that after Jesus' death, a Roman soldier pierced His side with a spear & blood & water came out. Scientists explain that from hypovolemic shock, the rapid heart rate causes fluid to gather in the sack around the lungs & heart. The accumulation of fluid in the membrane around the heart is called a Pericardial effusion & the lungs is called a pleural effusion.
To the world, Christianity is as foolish as it can get. They believe it's for the weak. But when you are confronted by the reality of the cross, it's clearly not a pretty sight. It is brutal & horrific.
This is the weight Jesus carried. The weight of the sins of the world, all so that we can live. God's wrath is fully satisfied in Jesus. This is what it took. Repent & believe! Jesus is โGod among usโ in the flesh. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus loves you so much that He went through this spiritual and physical punishment for your sins and mine.
Jesus is King!

The goal of authentic pastoral practice is the conversion of sinners. Pastoral outreach must be subordinate to the imitation of Christ the Good Shepherd, whose consistent, unwavering call is to repentance and conversion of life.

It is neither God nor the Devil for all the evil in the world. It is Man.
God asks man to obey the laws that He has established; but God has also given man the ability to refuse this truth. This is the situation in which all of us are placed.

โUnlike the demons, the angelic creatures were humble, and therefore a choice opened up to them: the joyful and eternal Beatific Vision of God, the Creator. They chose to remain faithful to the nature and goal of their existence - that of praising God eternallyโ

@FrPBehm@Joeinblack โGo, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spiritโ (Matthew 28:19)
@FrPBehm@Joeinblack Iโm glad you answered the question without answering the question.
A simple question. What is the goal?
An infant was not baptized before death after the parents tried to have that child baptized.
Should classes be required before the sacrament of reconciliation?
Charlotte seminary faces shortfall after diocese, under the leadership of controversial Bishop Michael Martin, OFM Conv., reduces financial support for operations.

I just saw the public discussion about Vance, not baptizing his children as infants.
To my Catholic Brothers and sisters, you should schedule a baptism as soon as possible for your kids.
One reason among many is the spiritual protection of your child. When we trace the cross on their head and claim the child for Christ, every demon, every angel can see that mark.
It matters.
For my brother priests, I beg you
in the name of Jesus, stop prohibiting baptism until parents jump through hoops.
I buried an infant this week whose pastor refused baptism for them. Enough with trying to control and protect yourself from feeling used.
Enough with the nonsense of โprotecting the sacramentโ.
Jesus doesnโt need you to protect him, but he does need you to protect the souls of these little ones.
If parents come to you seeking baptism for their child, you do it.
How can the Church, which is the guardian of divine truth, claim to show compassion while remaining silent or indulgent toward sins that destroy the very souls Christ died to redeem โ especially when this โcompassionโ toward homosexual acts becomes a betrayal of the Gospelโs call to repentance and conversion?
'False compassion is a pity shown not to the family of the murdered, but to the murderer'
The Eucharistic Life
1. The Eucharist in our spiritual life could be compared to the sun in the physical life of the world. The sun gives light, heat and life. We can imagine what a terrible thing it would be if the sun set one evening and never rose again! Darkness would envelop the earth once more as at the beginning of creation. The cold would become relentless and life would be gradually extinguished everywhere. Men could for some time depend on their reserves of artificial light to illuminate their creeping agony, but life would slowly decline until it ended in death for everything and for everybody. Such would be the spiritual life without Jesus, especially without Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist, Who lives amongst us as our only true Friend, Who hears, helps and nourishes us.
He is the sun of our souls, the source of our enlightenment, fervour and consolation. Are we weary and discouraged beneath the weight of our daily cross and of our sins? Let us go to Jesus and He will help us to carry our cross. He will wash away our sins and give us the supernatural strength never to sin again.
Let us unite ourselves to Jesus by frequent Communion, by a daily visit to Him in the Tabernacle, and by making a spiritual Communion whenever we cannot receive Him in the Blessed Eucharist. Let us make fervent ejaculations whenever we find our cross too heavy for us or when we are strongly tempted.
Many people go on long pilgrimages to famous Sanctuaries, such as Lourdes, Fatima and the Holy Places of Palestine. These are certainly worth while, but we should not forget that the greatest sanctuary of all is close at hand. It is in every church which contains Jesus in the Tabernacle. Here we have Jesus Himself, really present and anxious to listen to us and to help us. The Saints could find no greater joy on earth than to pray before the Blessed Sacrament.
2. The Eucharistic life, which is the life of union with Jesus especially by means of daily Communion, transforms us and makes us holy. It preserves and increases in us the grace which is the supernatural life of the soul. The Eucharist of itself does not bestow grace, because it is a Sacrament of the living. It is our food, and food is not given to the dead, but to the living. For this reason we should receive Holy Communion free from the stain of sin. The Eucharist, moreover, remits venial sins, strengthens us in our resolutions, and increases our charity. Venial sin is a sickness of the soul. Just as natural food banishes listlessness and vulnerability to disease, our Eucharistic nourishment has the same effect on our spiritual life.
It is because the Blessed Eucharist increases our love for Jesus that it weakens our evil inclinations. The Eucharist and sin are mutually exclusive of one another, because the Eucharist is Jesus and sin is the devil. Our Eucharistic food, moreover, produces in our souls a spiritual consolation which is a foretaste of the happiness of Heaven. Let us listen to Jesus living within us. He will enable us to forget our worldly cares and will raise us to a higher plane where by God's infinite goodness we shall continue to grow in virtue.
3. May the Most Blessed Sacrament be for ever praised and adored. (Antonio Cardinal Bacci)
