“When I was born, I was colored. I soon became a Negro. Not long after that, I was Black. Most recently, I was African American. It seems we’re on a roll here. But I am still first and foremost in search of freedom.”
—Harry Belafonte
The Oldest Chart in the Room
Once a quarter, I force myself to spend ten minutes with a chart that is older than every institution I trust. Older than the Federal Reserve. Older than the S&P 500 itself. Older, in its opening decades, than photography, the telegraph, and the germ theory of disease.
It is the US stock market since 1800, adjusted for inflation. On its left edge, Napoleon is marching on Moscow.
The S&P 500 (1800–2025), yearly, inflation-adjusted. Two centuries of secular bulls and bears — every major bear driven by inflation.

I got into Bitcoin around $1. Buying early wasn’t the hardest part. Holding through every crash was hard. Holding when the gains could change my life was harder. Patience isn’t a quote I post. It’s the decision that built my life.
"...the overturning of Bittar’s case was even more embarrassing for prosecutors as the Serious Fraud Office had resisted his application after having agreed that the convictions of the other five were unsafe in light of a Supreme Court ruling last year". https://t.co/WXd3rnzIeD
