They offered me a number so I could 'finish' the race as well, but it didn't feel right since I didn't enter. I said I'd join the next one to actually compete though so I guess at some point I have to start training to run a lot of this distance (~45km according to my GPS).
Inadvertently ended up in an ultramarathon race today after the route for the marathon I signed up for was changed last minute, making it closer to 50km and a lot harder. I finished though and happy enough with my effort considering I hadn't really trained for this.
I ran a half marathon in 1:47:16, first time completing it without any walking. Crushed my goal time of 2 hours and it feels great. Then I ate a delicious apple.
I ran 10k in 49:23 this morning. Less than 2 months ago it took me over an hour so not a bad improvement in the time I've been taking running more seriously.
This is a good stating point at least. 2 years ago I was in the worst shape of my life but putting effort into exercising a lot and spending a lot of time outside has been really good.
After last week I felt motivated so I went out and attempted to do a marathon at whatever pace I could manage. I regularly walk these kinds of distances but trying to include running when I haven't done distances over 5k in a very long time is something else.
I would have got sub 6 if I didn't have to stop to apply sun cream lol. It was raining all week so makes sense for it to be hot and sunny I guess. My goal was 5:30 and I was on pace for that until about the final 1/3 when my legs decided running was not an option anymore.
@MetalYoshiGamer I think I said that assuming it was using the low resolution since I knew it was 224 height, but I think it's actually (mostly) 304x224 (i.e. 320x240 but with 8px borders on each edge of the screen). The credits sequence might use the full 320x240, would have to double check.
