Our food problem is a marketing problem. How do you make good choices as appealing as the bad ones? Outgunned by budgets = have to be smarter. Got to try new things.
Happy to be a small cog in the big wheel that is @21_festival and inspire change in our food environment. So much energy and determination radiating from the event. Optimistic.
This Saturday we’re at Festival 21 talking about how Death to Nuggets uses creativity to make good food interesting to kids, & how parents can too. If you’re in Melbourne & food, culture & the future are your thing, check out the program, it’s super impressive! @21_festival
The Federal Court finds Heinz broke the law claiming a product containing two thirds sugar was beneficial to the health of kids. Well done @acccgovau holding power to account, but appeal the fine, $2.25m isn't enough to send a message to big companies https://t.co/R5Uej0ftsX
@antoinette_news @OPCAustralia Well said Antoinette, we think kids’ menus are an opportunity to improve kids’ relationship with food, not to reinforce poor choices - our Better Kids Menus campaign is all about that.
We wrote a piece for @ParentsVoiceAu about why we need Better Kids’ Menus in our eateries and what parents can do to help. Worth a read before you eat out this weekend. https://t.co/8z4MpFRS6E
@aliceinframes @liteandportable Fantastic stuff both. I want to say it's out of this world but that would be too corny. Oh no, it just got worse. I have to leaf straight away....
New data from @AIHW shows most Australians are an unhealthy weight.
I call it out as “a slow motion disaster.”

@xkiwiannax@Eddie_Cliff@MatthewONeill@BruceBolam @AlyceNWilson @SandroDemaio @janemartinopc @ParentsVoiceAu @VGrahamAPD@DiabetesVic @AnnaPeetersAus @PhilBakerNZ@NCDFREE Maybe there would be a case for your approach Anna if this was their only exposure, but that’s not the case, kids are surrounded by hi sugar/low nutrient food and parents spend a lot of time managing that. Spaces like sport that promote health and fitness should be pollution free
@Eddie_Cliff@BruceBolam @AlyceNWilson @SandroDemaio @janemartinopc @ParentsVoiceAu @VGrahamAPD@DiabetesVic @AnnaPeetersAus @PhilBakerNZ@NCDFREE I’m talking to my kids rugby club this week. I’ve been the parent not wanting to be ‘the fun sponge’ as @janemartinopc calls it, but enough is enough, 6 tons is ridiculous 😡
@aliceinframes@HEAS_Vic Yes! There’s so much more that could be happening here. Eateries have a positive role to play addressing this issue and as part of their community.
